    • $600 install fee :p
    • That's actually not a bad price for a standard install. In Sydney it's hard to find someone who will install without actually selling you the unit (because they dont make money off you on that as well), cheapest quote I got was $850 for a standard install!

    • I paid $425 in Adelaide (including electrical). I found the installer via Gumtree and he did a good job as far as I can tell.

  • AHA, i bought this exact model. Actually, just got it installed yesterday :-)

P.S. I bought it when the Good Guys were running "bonus store credit" promotion last week.

    • Bugger that was last weekend but I didnt know what to spend it on.
Was thinking of a split for the lounge room as a heater instead of using the Gas heater, still not sure.

  • Oh, man, that cashback offer has more conditions than Ebernezer Scrooge's will.

    https://www.fujitsugeneral.com.au/docs/default-source/terms/…

Can someone read it for me and tell me if there are any catches I should worry about.

  • i bought three of the Fujitsu 2.5 kw and one 3.5 kw for a total of $3000 last week at TGG, 2.5 kw is $735 and 3.5kw is $815, and the guy take futher $20 off making the total $3000. waiting for my $600 cash back from Fujitsu that will be send out in around 8 weeks

    • I assume the 2.5kw you bought for $735 was after cashback?? (E.g. the full price was $885)

      • all before cash back, paid $3000 for the lot

        • Wow. That's a pretty good price. Ended up being $585 for the 2.5kw? I suppose it was easier to get a discount when you are spending $3k. I might find it hard to go in and ask for 2 units at $735 each - but I will give it a go!! Thanks for your reply

    • can you post the receipt so that I can ask them to match the price?

Cashbacks are usualy in the form of cash vouchers to purchase at their own stores… not actually a real money cheque.

    • You’ll receive a free Fujitsu pre paid Visa Card worth up to $400 when you buy a Fujitsu Inverter Split System, Inverter Multi or Inverter Ducted Air Conditioner. Use them for purchases at Visa merchants and withdrawing funds from ATMs that accept Visa.

As stolen from the terms and conditions that shaybisc linked to above. So you have a choice of either keeping it on the Visa and using it anywhere where you can use a Visa or drawing the money out at an ATM if you're into the whole physical cash thing.

And ensure you withdraw the money ASAP. If you leave the cash on there for longer than 6 months, the card issuer charges a "admin" fee!

        • Is that a Visa debit card?

  • COP of 4.9. Impressive

Not a bad price, but it's only $810 for the 2.5kW model (before cashback) at Appliance Central with free delivery, and $930 for the 3.5kW model (before cashback).

    • Ahhh, will I go back to Harvey Norman again to get an additional $65 refunded?… wish the missus hadn't bought the thing from HN.

I got a couple of 7.0 kw panasonic CUE24PKRs for $1430 each recently. They have $200 cashback each as well. I noticed the best way was to get the best advertised price out there, usually from http://www.appliancecentral.com.au/ and then get someone to price beat. In this case masters by 10%, the good guys come to the party abit. alot of good cashbacks out there on aircons at the moment. And $250 from energex if your in qld for getting a peaksmart device installed. Take advantage people. The Fujitsu look good and the outdoor unit is compact but ive heard bad stories about expensive repair bills and bad weather / vermin protection (these things are full of electronics).

The new samsungs look like they are pretty good and they do a 10 year compressor warranty. Seem quiet too. But the inlet filters are exposed so i was worried whether they would look ugly after getting a bit dirty. I went with the safe bet and got panasonics though. We put a 2.5kW mitsubushi current model in our bedroom of a other house a year ago and i have to say they arent fancy looking but it heated and cooled better than any unit ive ever seen. quiet as a mouse too.

I question the COP ratings given with the units they dont any sense to me. I think its wierd that the bigger the unit the less efficent. I dont know how fujisu gets there COP ratings especially with such a small outdoor unit. might be a sneaky trick to it I suspect. Theres a 5.0kw samsung unit that has a really good COP rating too. Id be really looking at the max run current figures etc to compare units. If both brands have the same max current input and heating output but a different COP i'd be sus on the COP figures.

    • See this ATA Forum post re the COP ratings of smaller units being higher:

"The efficiency of an air conditioner depends largely on the size of the indoor heat exchanger relative to the cooling capacity, so it makes sense that the EER should fall as observed. The indoor heat exchanger is generously sized for the 2.5kW unit, but seriously undersized for the 5.0kW unit, so the efficiency suffers."

Also the Fujitsu units use the relatively new R32 refrigerant, not sure about the other brands.
I bought two Fujitsu 2.5kW recently (price match at the The Good Guys using the Appliance Central price so I could take advantage of the Amex $50 credit offer). Thanks for the comment about vermin and weather protection; I'd better have a look at that.

      • Thanks for that, good post to read.

Panasonic is def r410a. Its hard because whatever you buy, someone you talk to wont rate them, part of me thinks that maybe the bad stigma from installers fujitsu have got is just because they swtiched refrigerent and r32 is a bit of a pain to get etc. Gotta take everybodys opinion with a grain of salt. As an owner the energy efficency and quietness is really the paramount features.

I was thinking about getting two of the 5kw samsungs because they had a great COP. as in the end i needed 10kw of cooling for the area, but with two 7kw air cons i can use one at a time on moderate days depending on which area of the house we are in, with econavi on. which i'd assume would save a bit of power, and give plenty of grunt for that 35 degree Xmas day with a housefull of ppl. Teh mother in law rents a similar floorplan house to ours and the owner put in one 5kw fujitsu to do the whole area. I have to admit its a slick looking unit, and very quiet, and they put the compressor in their patio area so lucky its small.

  • Yeah had a look at the spec sheet. the samsung 2.5kw has a cooling max run current of 2.5A, yet the Fujitsu max run current is 2.7A. But the fujitsu states a better COP figure, must be the Tubby effect working its magic.

Im sure they are all great units though.

  • I got the cashback via Visa Credit Card, just use that for filling up the car, cant go wrong. The R32 gas takes longer to startup the unit but is more quiet to run. Bought mine 3.5K unit $930 less $150 cash back 5mths ago ar TGG. Paid around $550 for fully qualified installs back to back. Cash back card takes few months or more to get.

    • Yeah the cash card is certainly better than panasonics offer. Getting it paid onto your electricity account is all well and good, unless you've just moved into a house and havent recieved your first bill yet. They need a bill to process the claim, total Pain for me, had to use a mates bill.

  • Looking at getting 3 seperate split systems for my home, is this a good unit?
