I've got 2 Mideas at home and honestly they're actually pretty decent. Keep in mind that I'm comparing against Kelvinator and Samsung, but the things just work. There is a little bit of 'smarts' in them which I do find a little frustrating at times (if I press cool, 17*C Turbo, I expect maximum performance.. but it turns off the turbo function after 20 minutes), however summers are certainly quite pleasant inside, and that is in spite of the terrible insulation and thin windows.

As the Kelvinators slowly die (these units are horrible.. and yet made by the same parent company?), I'm replacing them with Midea and couldn't be happier.

Also, I've purchased an install kit from Star Sparky and it was awesome, had everything I needed and the quality of the parts was superb.

    • Mitsubishi electric turn off turbo after 15mins, its only meant for a short period to rapidly cool

    • What's the Install Kit? Did you install it yourself?

Anyone thinking about buying this, just don’t. It’s like $300 more for a Mitsubishi which will actually last you 10+ years. Not worth the crappy brand.

    • 100% disagree. I was thinking the same. I got 2 Mitsubishi installed at my own place. And got 2 cheap Midea installed at rental place for cost concern. Mitsubishi one start squeaking after half year and break down after around 2 year. It takes me more than 3 week to get warranty claim and get tech comming fix it due to 'fully book out bs'. On the other hand the Midea one break down after 4 years surprisingly. I made the call and fill up the warranty details through email on day1, and guess what, tech came on day3 and get it all fixed. Still running strong now. Then I realise the 'Japan made = high quality' is probably a out dated old man thinking.

      • Were they MHI or Mitsubishi Electric? Note that the quality of the install matters too. My MHI one had a bad installer and had issues for that reason. I got the installation fixed up and have had zero problems since. The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries air cons have a good reputation for a reason.

        • It's Mitsubishi Heavy Industry. It cost me amost double the price for the unit. And well reputated local installer as well. I try to make it bullet prove. However if there's so many factors which cause it fkup. Then the after purchase service do play big factor here. and it pissed me off so much and successfully destroy it's reputation here

  • How much should we be paying for a back to back install, 6m run from the power board.

    Brick veneer house.

  • Extra mysterious gift with the purchase was nearly enough for me to pull the trigger, dont really need an air con thou.
