  • Awesome, I remember I paid $100 when these first came out. Awesome as.
Keep in mind you'll need to buy the wireless cover if you have a 925.
Also works with other Qi-compliant phones (for example the Nexus 5 and Note 3 w/ wireless cover)

  • I bought the lie-down version of this and use it with my Nex5. Cracking unit and it is one of the best things about the handset. Unbelievably convenient to have at your bedside.

    • +1 on that.

DSE was clearing them out at the time, bought one each for my missus and myself for the SGS4.

Bought the Qi receiver to place on the battery, so much easier than plugging and unplugging the micro USB.

Bear in mind they DO charge a bit slower, but convenience outweighs the hassle.

These stand up ones are better for user friendliness ie. watching videos while charging.

      • how's the charging rate on these? same as an AC powered plug? or more like USB from a computer

        • Slower than the proper AC charger but seems to be faster than USB. I have a Fatboy charger which has the same charger plate thing. The AC transformer is a bit bulky.

      • how much longer does it take than usb?

  • Do these have the same plug that the flat laying one has? That is, the one that hogs 2 sockets on a power board because it is stupidly wide? Other than that small gripe, it's a really good product and a solid deal

    • Yes it's the same unfortunately.

  • The standing one looks nice!
I bought two lying flat ones at DS a while ago when they cleared them out at $22 each for my SGS4s. Very happy with them. Don't like the bulky of its power plug though.

    • +1

It's got NFC the same way a NFC sticker has NFC, so it's worth < $1. You're better off buying a pack of the stickers and just putting one under your desk. Anyway, it's been a while, but when I went through this exercise I found the software unreliable, so it was easier / quicker / more reliable to revert to widget switches. The primary functions are to switch things on and off or perhaps send an pre-scripted text, etc. Tasker is the hardcore app for this.

      • Agreed. And one of the big problems with WinPho8, is that you can't string multiple actions together on a single NFC tag (i.e. I'm at home, so do X, then Y, then finally Z, etc).

And also, the NFC support doesn't allow you to get specific with some of the actions - i.e. do things at the OS level (turn the ringer on or off, turn on wifi then connect to a specific network). You can only open the app associated with the feature and then have to manually perform the function.

Really limits the usefulness of NFC.

  • Anyone used this with a Galaxy Note 3?

  • Got mine yesterday and can confirm it's fantastic with Nexus 5. Way more user friendly than the google QI charger, which is too small and hard to position your phone on so that it actually charges. This one, you just plonk it on and it connects every single time.

The usual gripe for me - stupid, pointless, bright and annoying little white LED. In the bedroom. What the hell is with this shit? I put it on - I know I did this - why does the device need to reiterate that I did this? Just stupid. I hate these things. /rant.

  • Thanks to the OP, received mine today (even after a little snafu with their 3rd party card processor's website).
