Only charge watch? Or can charge phone also?

    • +2

      Only for watch.

Will also work with AirPods with wireless charging cases, handy in a pinch

        • Oh interesting, i didn't actually know that. But this makes me wonder, because my normal belkin wireless charger for the phone charges my airpods, does that mean a phone wireless charger will also charge an apple watch? I don't have one but I'm curious.

  • Cygnett had them on their eBay store (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145962885279) for $9 until recently, but looks like they're out of stock now.

They're just a watch charge cord without the cord. I have no idea how HN thinks anyone would buy one for $70.

this is a really great item. I got one a few years back at officeworks on clearance also, and havent been able to find another

      … until now!

ive done a click and collect, last item at that store, so im hoping they actually have it

      • And yep. Unable to fulfil. 😞😞

  • +1

Looks like it blocks other ports

  • Have never been able to find the Samsung version of this. I've got the charger stand

  • So, you can charge your Apple Watch from the iPhone ?

    • At least with the stock Apple cable on a usb-c iPhone, yes.

      • +2

it wouldn't use a cable, this has the USB-C plug built in so you can plug it directly into a laptop/charger - so might work if plugged directly into the USBC port to provide power, but to use with a cable you'd need a female-female adapter.

        • or male to female cable, do they exist?

          • +1

@sween64: yeah they do, but I’d be going for the female-female adapter since it can stay on the watch charger and make it like a generic USB device. Standardising cables as male-male USB-c and devices as female usb-c.

        • +1

I meant to say that you can use the original USB-C cable that comes with an Apple Watch to charge via a USB-C iPhone. I’m not sure if this one will work the same but it should.

          • @stickyfingers: oh interesting, I’d never tried that! kinda convenient, thanks for the tip! :)

            • though what’d be more convenient is if they firmware updated the watches so the qi charging wasn’t borked to only work with Apple Watch chargers (and enabled the reverse wireless from the phones)

now if they could've added a battery on it as well it would have solved that problem as well

  • Is this fast charge capable or just a slow one?

    • +1

Mine is super slow, so it’s not suitable for a quick daily charge cycle imo

  • +1

I have one of these, fantastic in my work bag for very occasional top up’s.

Only issue is that it doesn’t seem to fast charge, so keep that in mind

  • For this price you can get a keychain mini powerbank charger on Amazon. Just wait for the next sale cycle.

I bought LISEN Magsafe Charger Apple Watch 2 in 1 Wireless Charging Station

I’m using it as both mobile stand and wireless charger

Bonus it has watch charger or stand

    • +1

I bought this no name brand one from Amazon
Supports USB A and C as well as fast charging. Says MFi certified in the title description, although take that with a grain of salt.

      • looks good to me for $14, how's your charging experience with it?

        • Haven’t received it yet, unfortunately. The one OP posted was sold out near me, and I wasn’t going to pay for delivery, so I had a look for something similar on Amazon.

  • Does this get really hot? The Cygnett with cable version got really hot.

  • I have one like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/Elebase-Magnetic-Portable-Wireless… and it is quite good. Biggest limitation is that it requires an extra cable, so need to find a stubby C-C adapter.
