Best Travel Insurance Provider?

Hey guys,
A friend and I are going to Bali for a week in December, and we're currently booking the last few necessities. We've been doing some comparisons online and have come to the conclusion that Allianz is the best option in terms of price and inclusions, but just wanted some final opinions one way or the other. So, anyone got any recommendation, advice or experiences regarding travel insurance providers?
Thanks in advance.

I usually use CoverMore; reasonable prices, great to deal with & if you ever do have to make a claim they don't dick you around with the process.

    • I was looking into them through Escape Travel, but their price was about $40 more than Allianz's equivalent. when factoring in cancellation cover. I'll take them into consideration if their service is good, though. Thanks.

I can't comment on their after sales service because I haven't had to claim, but check out AustPost Travel Insurance - it was by far the cheapest price when we were looking (we only needed domestic though, so do your research.)

Yeah, checked out them too and they were also more expensive (inclusions were good though), IIRC.

Did you check AusPost online or instore? Strangely it's cheaper instore! If Bali is classified as Indonesia it's $5/day.

  • There is 1Cover which seems to Allianz under a different name…I managed to get my travel insurance down quite a lot with CoverMore because I mentioned the price difference between the two.

    • Covermore pay 40% commission to Escape Travel/Flight Centre for the more comprehensive cover so they usually have a bit of room to move on the price.

Actually it's 24% on Options. Must've been a while since you worked for FC?

        • Yes, been a while. :)

      • Flight centre have given me the covermore policy for the online travel direct quote price

I usually use TravelInsuranceDirect. There's always a coupon to knock 10% off the price, their inclusion amounts are good, and the one time my brother made a claim it was pretty easy.

    • Likewise. Made a claim once, was super easy and they deposited the cash in a few days, no questions asked! Am using them again because they've been great when it counts.

    • I always use them too, very reasonable price and i'm pretty happy with what they cover and how much they cover.

  • I have a pre-existing condition which is a blood disorder. The only mob who will insure me is Covermore. But it's a great policy but I prefer SCTI for price vs policy.

  • I just got this today.. Maybe some use to you?

  • For coverage of some sports excluded by other policies including TID, and if you need items >1000 covered, woolworths is a good policy too. Always read the exclusions list of the policy
