  • ahhh i have a mate who has one of these, quite good if you do digital media arts etc. Quite sensitive pad too.

  • +1

It's a great pad, although from my experience, A5 is a little small to work with. But it's really personal taste.

    • i thought 6x8 is larger an A5

EDIT: yeah, just looked it up, A5 is 21 x 15 cm.

      • I don't think you will find the difference noticable in use ;)

  • +2

Geez, that cheep only $50.00 more than the bamboo, but 1000x better.

Many thanks Spudda - I have been waiting literally years for a decent price on this model. This is now superseded by the Intuos4 series but for non professional use it is still a marvelous tool and much better than the bamboo version.

By the way you can call a central number and have one put aside at one of the stores for pickup if it is in stock. Just did this for their Hawthorn (Vic) shop.

    Ozzie

    • I think even for professional use, this is a great tool.

It was the tool people were using before Intuos4, so if Intuos4 wasn't released, people would still be using this!

  • 1 left at Hawthorn (VIC)- well according to HT's website.
    Probably the one Ozzie ordered.
Good luck trying to get one.

    • Nope - that is the one left after I reserved mine from the two they had :)

      Ozzie

  • I kinda want one but it's still a bit expensive for me…

  • +1

I've just called them, and they said they're getting heaps of stock in for this. You can place an order for them at the current price so when it comes in, you won't miss out. Thanks, spudda! Great deal!

  • Thanks so much Spudda. I too have been waiting near years for this to come down. I was a bit deterred after witnessing the beast that is the Wacom Cintiq, but with this price my interest has been resparked. Thank you Spudda, you've fulfilled a long term ambition of mine.

Also - does anyone reckon this could be price-matched by OW?

  • +1

Good deal, could you put the price in the title though?

  • Hey Uncharted, I just checked the OW website and I didn't find exact product on it? So they obvs won't pricematch unless they have it.. unless you've seen it on there? Because that would make it an even better deal!

This is a perfect example of how amazing OzBargain is… my girlfriend's birthday is comin up this end of August and she does design and she's been talkin' about wanting one of these graphics tablets for ages… my budget's about 200 so I was lookin' at them lesser ones, even those other intellipens or what (though I don't think that's what she needs, I was about to pop into an OW and ask them about it.) But this seems like this takes the cake for only a few bucks more! Great, and thanks Spudda for spotting this! Yay now she'll think that I spent 500 on it and maybe buy me a ps3 for my birthday… BWEHEHEHEHE

    I heartz OBZargen!!1!

Don't forget you can squeeze even more mileage out of the associated Postage Rate, by including some of the 10 x 16x DVD+R Shintaro Discs (Individual Jewel Cases) - $2.99 - that are available from HT as well.
I managed to add an additional 40 disks for $11.96, before the quoted postage of $15 to deliver to Tasmania also starts to increase.

      • Strange !
I've been sent an email by HT to confirm my order with them, but they are asking for a copy of my driver's licence and some other ID to verify my identity.
Does everyone have to do this when dealing with HT online ??
If it is just me that has to do all that i might yet cancel my order, and only because of the inconvenience-factor of having to actually Fax them additional personal information and the apparent lack of eFiscal trust.
I've never had to do this for an online purchase before.

  • Nice Wacom is the only tablet to buy.

@Mutantx - I am curious - would you rather deal with a company that is happy to have an order on your card by anyone perhaps!

This is normal procedure now in the USA for dealing with phone or e-mail orders. I suspect that HT are doing random checks.

To save the hassle of getting access to a Fax I used attached images by e-mail from a scan or photograph. E-mail HT to check if this is acceptable as it was a lot easier than faxing in my case when dealing with Adorama in the USA for a lens purchase.

  • I've used a bamboo and the cheaper fake intuos tablets before, and Nothing compares to a real one. A5 is fine for most stuff, unless you have a massive LCD and are into drawing large sketches/paintings with broad strokes. Might try to track one of these down this is a bargain. And I've waited nearly 10 years to buy a decent tablet for a price the right side of $500, I gave up in the end.

Man i got this no name brand one off ebay and it was a total waste of time.. like trying to urinate in the toilet bowl when you are drunk..

I used my friend's wacom.. and it is so much better! This is a good buy.. Im going to get one.

  • i decided to change my order from online.CC to paypal.
After ringing and talking to staff, i was told it was now policy for new and untried CC customers to send in the additional ID fax, but i decided to cancel the first order and simply re-order using Paypal, as i have neither a fax nor a printer.
Thanks to Ozem61 for the advice as to emailing a photo instead of a Fax .. but it was ultimately easier doing the transaction through Paypal.
Ozem61: i do agree that its better to see CC security being an important matter for a Vendor, i just initially thought it was a very unusual business practice.

    • That's weird, I paid using CC and they didn't ask for additional ID fax…

  • HI all, I did some running around today (highpoint S.C. in Melbourne), and found that Harvey N. stock this tablet, however it is the 'student edition' for $328.00. I could not speak to anyone as they are pretty unhelpful there, you gotta get them off their A_SE! Anyway, any more knowledgeable members out there know what the diff. is? software included, pen tips etc.?
Anyway JB, O.W. and Clive P. don't stock this. Harvey's was the only one.. I got my 10,000 steps just finding this out :) cheers.

    • You are required to have a student card to get this price or be a teacher - if HN sell it to you at this price then you may be at risk of having a check up from Wacom and you may well be expected to pay normal retail if you cannot show a student card to back up the declaration required at point of sale - perhaps HN will supply it without the proper paperwork but they then risk problems with the wholesaler.

The same thing applies for a few software packages ie Photoshop which is available to students at an enormous discount.

Why not get one for $29 cheaper (and legally) by going down to Hawthorn East and picking one up from Harris T?

Others may have had different experiences but I would be very wary if HN supply you without verifying student status.

BTW - just to answer your question the product and driver CD is identical but the included bonus software disk - a couple of Nik filters, Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and Corel Painter Essentials 4 may not be included - check out the box, it will list the contents :) At least mine did, on one of the ends.

      Ozzie

  • Thanks Ozzie,
I cant see how Wacom could expect/force anyone to pay retail, I think it is more likely that it is light on software but, I got to check the box for that.
Yes might as well save $15.00(postage) or $30.00 I agree. But drive to hawthorn is over 1.5hr. drive roundtrip for me, and I was hoping to try the tablet this weekend (so postage not what I wished for. Anyway can't have everything your own way.
    Thanks for the reply Ozzie.

  • got mine delivered today…have yet to open it
