Why do I feel TA that if I posted this I'd get 10 positives but with you posting it, it will get over 50 and everybody will be like TA you've done it again even though hardly anyone will listen.
    :)

  • Great band. Thanks for posting this!

    Dear OP,

    Thanks for this awesome release!

    Love,
    1994.

    • Always great to get something free, and Counting Crows at that, but it's no Across A Wire: Live in New York.

  • Songs from the 90's and 2000's were the best.

Now we have Bieber and Miley..

there was plenty of crap back then though too - I mean, The Spice Girls? Aqua haha, lots I don't wanna try to remember; it always seems like it was better back then because we only really remember/keep listening to/celebrate the stuff that stands the test of time, which generally happens to be pretty decent (which is a bit strange; if the vast majority of people like absolutely rubbish at any given time, why is it that later on people finally appreciate the good stuff and recognize the trash for what it was? I dunno hah).

And there're great bands today - not everyone will agree with my taste (although someone who liked the good stuff from the 90s and Counting Crows probly might), but here're some random contemporary artists/bands I've discovered lately and really like; P*ssed Jeans, The Hold Steay/Craig Finn's solo album, Caitlin Rose (country-ish though), who then turned me onto an unknown Nashville band called The Deep Vibration, and this week I've been playing their album over and over again: http://thedeepvibration.bandcamp.com/ sorta alternately Stonesy, Big Star-y, Gram Parsons-y, Replacements-y? heh. Oh and The Black Angels. And otherwise I listen to a lotta Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, Tegan And Sara, Jesse Malin, etc but they largely hit their heights a few years ago too arguably. But point is, there's still awesome music :)

        Anything else on your playlist?

    • mmmbop… bop bop doo wop!

    • Hmmm - for this old codger, 1968 was the highest point music ever reached, but there is always good and bad - Try searching for I've got juice juice juice', or if you are really masochistic Kung foo fighting' if you wish to know what truly dire from that period sounds like.

Mr Jones tho was a true breath of fresh air at the time…

  • August and Everything After, Recovering the Satellites, This Desert Life were great, Hard Candy wasn't bad… but I started to drift away from them from there.
If any fans think they've got anything else out worthwhile listening to, let me know!

Yeah my two favourite are still probly August, and Recovering the Satellites - but their most recent proper album (ie not their newer cover album), Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings, is right up there with their first two IMO. Some of the rockier electric tracks from the first half of the album - like 'Cowboys' - are killer, live. There's a video bootleg where they performed the album in it's entirety, too (ala their August and Everything After BD/DVD), I'm checking youtube for it but can't find it atm..Anyway, check that album out; the first half is the most 'Recovering The Satellites'y that they've been since, the second half is more acoustic and probly more like August and Everything After than they've ever been since, and there're some great songs

    • They have a new single out today called "Pallisades Park". The new album "Somewhere Under Wonderland" comes out in September. I'm excited to hear both.

  • TA, you've done it again! (I may or may not listen)

  • If you are a Counting Crows fan you probably know this:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counting_Crows#Live_audience_r…

    Live audience recordings

The band actively encourages the recording of its concerts and the distribution of the resulting bootleg recordings. The band hosts a trading network on its website to enable fans to swap concert recordings. Sale of fan recordings for profit is prohibited; fans must either trade their own recordings for others or pay for blank media, postage, and packaging. An unofficial torrent site, named Crowstown, offers a vast quantity of video and live audience recordings for free.
