  • Does this come with the insulated pins to meet Australian Standards AS/NZS3112:2000 & AS/NZS3112:2004 ? https://www.accesscomms.com.au/reference/insulated-pins.htm

    • +1

It won't even come with a AU style plug, but then again my digital camera I bought at a local store came with a EU style plug with adapter and it works fine…

      • It won't even come with a AU style plug,

You should be able to request one. When I bought the Nitecore i4 from Aliexpress I just put a note in the comment field of the checkout saying "Ship with AU plug".

    • I bought my Nitecore i2 last year and it was an american plug (2 prong).

      • Could you simply change the cable i.e. removable figure 8 lead or IEC lead?

        • +1

Yeah, the charger I assume would be 110-240v so it can take either voltage.

    • +1

Nitecore D4 comes with a standard figure 8 power plug. All you need is a standard figure 8 AU power lead such as this and you're all set. No need for any AU style plug adaptor. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=PS4115

You can clearly see the standard figure 8 power plug that the D4 has in this pic. The specs has it as 100-240v universal power.

  • At which point do I add the coupon? Never mind I figured it out.

  • You can buy the Australian version online and it comes with the tick.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Australia-Nitecore-i4-Universal-S…

(Caution - Item listed above is only for context. It is not the cheapest AU version.)

The AU plug versions are usually more expensive as they do not cover as many countries. What you should be thinking about is not the plug, but whether the internals of the product are counterfeit, if not, then you should be fine as long as you don't unplug by holding onto the area near the pins. The whole point of insulated pins is to prevent people from accidentally touching it or self-harm related reasons.

Alternatively if you have the U.S. version already and are paranoid. You can go to an electronics warehouse and look for a 10W DC12V output plug that fits the product's pins. From what I can see it looks like those old plugs commonly used with VCRs. e.g. http://www.cablemagic.com.au/figure-8-power-cable.html

Note: It might cost more to get the U.S. or E.U. version and replace the cord.

    • The charger you linked isn't the same, the one in the OP is around $35-50.

      $31.80AUD is a good deal

  • How does this compare to the Nitecore i4?

I am thinking the D4 is an old model?

    • i4 is 2012 and D4 is 2014 AFAIK

    • I was wondering how one of these would compare to the Soshine Max 3

  • How does it compare to la Crosse 700? Haven't heard about nitecore before

    • I don't believe the La Crosse charges LiFePO4 cells. Only Nicads and NiMH

  • I recently bought the Soshine H2 for $AU23.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321335882397
Seems to be good. May be not as good as this Nitecore and only two slots but independant circuits, AU adapter and shipped fast.

Is this good for charging Eneloops?

    • I can't see why not, assuming you don't feed the batteries too high a current and reduce their life. Unit seems to have a lower current mode and is 'smart' enough to stop charge intelligently but I haven't used one yet so implementation could be sub-par. Seems to charge lots of different cells. I am eager to try one.

If you don't wnt to bother with all these options & want a cheaper charger with individual charge channels I'd highly recommend the Panasonic BQ-CC17 charger from Amazon. A cheap $1 non-approved US to AU 3-pin adapter from ebay will run it here without hassle.

  • you can buy the non lcd version for $18 USD if you don't need the fancy lcd

    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1PC-Nitecore-Battery-Charger-…

  • Hmm…want to buy but this AC cable confusion has put me off…why jump on ozbargin and promote an item not compatible with OZ? I know I can make it compatible but that adds $6-8 bucks on top…not really a deal then imho…

Store rep, is there any way these can be purchased with Aussie plug?

    • +2

Hmm… shall we ban all Amazon electronics deals because it's too confusing for you? It's not that hard… It takes a standard figure 8 plug. You probably have 3 or 4 or 200 lying around at home. The cable that came with your camera charger should do it. If not, unplug your cassette player from 1985 and use that one.

      • That's not my point… The main point is there is an added 6-8 bucks on top to get it to work… So it not really that cheap :p

Plus to counter your argument, I don't see amazon reps posting electronic deals, there is no confusion there , it clearly US plugs

  • Thanks, bought one.

  • $31.80 AUS delivered is good for me…SOLD
I hate waiting to try and pair batteries up…
I asked for AUS adapter cable…see how that goes ay?

Bought from here once before and delivery is reasonable :)

    thanks

    • If not then the AUS figure 8 power lead 1.8m is only $5.95 from Jaycar. Or there's an AUS figure 8 power lead 1.2m from Officeworks for $4.48. This is a real AUS power lead not one of those power plug adapters. It doesn't cost a lot of money to replace the cable.

  • Does not look like they've made any changes to the design, to make it easier to get 18650 batteries in it. I have the i4 and although I love it, getting 18650s in it can be a bit tedious.

    • Tight fit?

      • +1

Bit tight, yes. The length of the compartment for the batteries is only a couple of the milimetre longer than an 18650 battery and the negative contact which you pull back, to hold the battery in, is not as tall as an 18650 is wide.
This can make it a bit tricky to get the 18650s in, but once you get used to slotting them in from the side (instead of dropping them straight down, like you can with shorter batteries), it's not really an issue.

Certainly not something which should put anyone off buying one of these. In fact, despite having the i4, I bought this one as well, so I have another.

Would be interested if I didn't know Banggood tamper their reviews.
Also have noticed they drop there posts but then don't follow up on any questions in comments.

    • Always get an independent review but buy from the cheapest that's what I do.

      • +2

Would be interested if I didn't know Banggood tamper their reviews.

yes they do, anything less than a 3 star review and they remove it

    • +1

http://www.tinydeal.com do the same thing with their reviews. Shameless dishonesty in my dealings with them. It just becomes one meaningless joke when everything is rated high.

  • Bought one, thanks store rep!
Lots of mixed reviews here, great participation!

  • +2

Tempted to buy… but after sales support seems non-existent.

REP can you advise why my many support enquiries relating to order #1913435 have gone unanswered?
I have submitted request via the web form for After-sale Support and also emailed Customer Service.

    • one email is probably enough, it is the weekend too.

tech support normally takes over 24 hours for me from banggood

    • +1

I should clarify that I have been seeking a response to my support enquiry from a previous purchase since 11-May.

    • Sorry for the late reply, check your mail box later.

      • Hi Rep, I had someone from [email protected] contact me on 14-July regarding my support enquiry. I emailed back straight away. No response was received.

I waited and sent a follow up email on 25-July. And again, no response received.

      • Hi Rep, what is happening with the promise to help me out regarding order #1913435 ?
6-August and still no response received. I have sent another email to [email protected].

  • code still works

  • Charger came today, two weeks from China is pretty decent compared to others like tmart etc.

    Charging some envelopes now

    • +1

I think you mean to say Eneloops, not envelopes.

      • lol

        yes :)

  • Got mine today. Will toss it into the cupboard for later.

  • Be warned, despite being sold as a smart charger, this does not offer discharge or cycling modes, and does not even display charge capacity
