510

Nationwide deal.

G526 $79 G300+ $39 plus others in the Vodafone line up.
It was not a one store only clearance. They had plenty of stock.
It does not appear in any catalogues that I have seen.

      • Got my SMS notification today, and sure enough the IMEI is now on the Voda site and it was free to unlock…happy days :)

  • I have just returned my G526 to Hurstville (2220) Target for anyone who is interested. (IMEI not found on the Voda website)

    • Hi… You should have kept it…. It would have asked you to send your mobile number and Voda would have sent the free code… same thing here for 2 G526 from Leichhardt Target.

That's what happens when people don't read all the handy comments.

Well thanks to this forum,I got my G526 at Target Hobart last Sunday for $79 and am very pleased with it.
They had a few left. Hope this helps somebody as it did me.
I must add that I went to Voda site and paid $25 to unlock it…..all too easy. A good phone all that I expected and needed.

Hi got my g526 for Morley Perth and IMEI was not recognised on Vodafone website. Paid 3.99 from
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=331228…
received codes 4 blocks of 16 numbers

    1. Insert a non accepted SIM card (your new one)
    2. Switch the phone on
    3. The phone will ask you to enter NP Code '' ( or something similar )
    4. Enter the First 16 digits Code Above.
In case first set of 16 digit code didn’t work, please do a factory reset and after reboot enter the 3rd set of 16 digits code it should unlock

1st code did not work so did factory reset with my optus sim inside and after reset it worked. I did not have to enter the 3rd code. Maybe someone who needs a code can try doing a factory reset with their non Vodafone sim and report how they went

I don't mean to hijack the thread. Just wanted to say the FM radio and the MP3 player on the G526 is fantastic! I tossed the earbuds that came with it and plugged in my own high quality headphones. The G526 has the best FM radio I've come across for mobile phones. The music from the stereo FM radio is heaps of fun.

When listening to MP3's there is virtually no noise or hissing. It separates the stereo brilliantly.

The sound signature is similar to my home hifi's Dynamic Range Compression set to maximum. Sounds are not offensive and the music has a lot of body.

I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions on whether I'm insane to enjoy the G526's music playing abilities.

    • Am impressed with the sound & the phone.

  • Bought last 2x G526 from Target Maroochydore , they where marked up at $159 but scanned at $79… so you can still get them at $79

Is it the power and volume button you use to do a factory reset ?

  • checked vodafone , they want $25 to unlock , I will try the reboot , if not I will get the ebay code.

    Thanks for the advice..

  • There are more g256's left at Warrnambool Target. The sales person was quite taken aback at the price.

  • Two left at Grafton NSW store when we bought ours there this arvo. In fact all the voda models there seemed to be being offered at half price. No luck for me on the unlock at the Voda website. The message I received was normal unlock $50 special price $25.

  • Tempted to buy a g526 as spare, but I'm with amaysim (optus). Will they allow me to look up each IMEI and make sure that I will be able to unlock it prior to purchase?

    • Smile nicely like I did. Staff member let me record IMEI of as many as I wanted. Use a scanner app or camera to record bar code, or enter as a Note etc.

(It's on the side of the pack. If it's in a display case, just get them to turn all phones around & they can lock the case again.) Went outside to check - but all wanted $25 unlock. They just don't want any inconvenience & don't have authority to do anything different. When staff realise you understand that need, I usually find them very cooperative.

But unlocked only cost $3.85 on eBay, which was offset by the $3.95 ING 5% rebate ;-)

  • Picked one up (1 more left) from Albany WA, was not lucky on the unlock lottery but seems like a nice phone, bit of a step up from my old Xperia Play. Thanks OP.

  • Perfect timing, my old phone just died and i picked up a new HTC for $74 yesterday! Thanks :D

  • Are there anymore around Sydney anywhere?
Want to track down a cheap android to use till the end of the year.

    • They were shipping about 3 to the Broadway, Chatswood and Hornsby stores. However, those were the last of them for those stores and they arrived at the start of the week. Likely to be sold out already

  • I've called almost every store in metro Melbourne and none have any left unfortunately. Looks like I missed out.

  • Got a G526 from Indooroopilly (no that's not a made up place name!) Brisbane yesterday. I'm with virgin mobile and got a new (small) sim from their "shop" on the next floor;

Is it worth first useing the included voda sim, ie is there any credit on it?

    • +1

No included credit on Voda SIM - just unlock & use your selected carrier. (People do find Indooroopilly one of those strange place names.)

  • Went to grab a second G526. Gonna give it to mum and retrieve my iPhone 4, sell it and still have money left!

  • I'm just using mine as a 4G data modem at the moment. Good internet speed. Previously used a Pocket WiFi 2, with Huawei Y201 for internet & calls.
