iPhone 6 screen 4.7 inch sapphire crystal screen- shatterproof, non-breakable screen

the iPhone 6 confirmed sapphire crystal display.

I will be upgrading from samsung S3 to iPhone6
This screen looks INCREDIBLE.

he did things like stabbing the glass with the knife, scratching the screen with keys, even using full power to bend it. shatterproof, non-breakable, indestructible, imperishable, resistant, durable, everlasting, long-lasting screen

I guess its time to say goodbye to my android samsung when iPhone 6 comes out now unless they make something like that. i can say that the iPhone 6 can be nokia opponent.

  • The Ubuntu Edge was actually meant to have Sapphire glass display as well. However it fell short of it's 32 million goal and only hit 12.8 million (which even though it failed to reach the goal, broke record for the most funded crowdfunding campaign).

So no, Apple weren't the first guys to think of using sapphire displays on their phones. Though many phones won't feature sapphire glass until it becomes mainstream as I imagine it will be very costly to make, meaning less profit per phone sold. Apple though already makes a pretty hefty margin on their iPhones which is why they can afford to be the first to produce it.

Will it be a unique selling point? Probably. But not for long… Samsung is looking at flexible displays and it solves the main problem with smartphones, which is shock resistance.

  • hasn't been officially announced yet.

yes I've seen the screen and it looks impressive but the real issue with the screen on the other iPhones is shock damage rather than scratches.

is that really a selling point for you? is your android scratched?

i just like the iphone 6 because of the non breakable screen. so i reckon if you drop it screen down it will not break because of the high quality material used.

I have this word 'confirmed'. Confirmed by whom? By Apple? No. Then it is just a speculation.

  • Will not be getting the Iphone 6, am excitingly waiting for Samsung Note 4 with flexible display. Currently using Note 3 and LG G2 as my daily driver, perfectly happy with the Android experience and don't expect to shift anytime soon.

    • Any reason why you use both? Which do you use more?

  • there is a rumour that it will be released in October this year, but there is another rumour :it will be released next year, which
    one is right?

  • The bending of the screen won't be a big deal as the body of the phone will be rigid so it is not like the screen will bend at all.

The scratching of the screen has been shown a lot in the past so I think that is fairly common, the main test for me would be for someone to take a bit of coarse sandpaper to the screen and rub for about a min to simulate having your phone in your pocket.

The other test would be the corner drop.

    • Coarse sand paper? Mate what do you put in your pockets? Coarse grit sandpaper can take away steel and carbon fibre, you can forget about the glass, the rest of the phone case will be taken away as well…

      • Steel and carbon fibre are softer than Gorilla glass (can be softer than normal glass too, it varies..)

Gnome has a point though, all the knife tests on phones are practically useless, the real test would be granules of sand.

  • Hurry up my 4 is dying

I know OZB favours Android phones most of the time. I've used Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z. And I actually really like the Android ecosystem but the one thing I couldn't get over with is the lag and delay. All phones above I experienced lag and it's just not smooth at times.

I'm currently using an Iphone 5S and it's silky smooth to use which is the one major thing that made me switch over. I also run a Galaxy Note 3 8.0 and that too lags big time!

PS. I don't have any brand loyalty and will gladly move back to Android phones if they can sort this one thing out.

Not really sure if Iphone 6 will be that much of an evolution to make me jump from my current one.

    • That's Samsung lag, not Android lag.
Go try out HTC devices, even new Sony flagships… you'll see what I'm talking about.

    • I got the z1, no lag at all. I have mates with LG g2, no lag either… I also have my iphone 4 with ios 7.. lag city..

  • I wonder if the rumored 5.5inch model will be as durable.
I could imagine a phone that size the screen would be under a lot of stress when sitting in the pocket of a tight pair of jeans.

  • So you think the iPhone 6 can be a Nokia opponent? That is not a good thing seeing as Nokia basically sell no phones at all these days.

  • now the iPhone has been announced, they've actually said it'll have a different type of screen, ion strengthened glass.
