Car Service

I just recently got my car serviced (20000km) by my mechanic and I noticed that he hadn't ticked off 'Electrical systems checked' in the logbook. Does this in anyway affect my warranty?? My car is a 2013 mazda 3 if that changes anything. Thanks for any help guys!

Tick it yourself if you are worried.

fairly sure mechanics use pens with datadot technology, viewable under microscope. If OP has a warranty issue, they'll inspect the book and find one box was ticked with a real pen. OP will be charged with fraud and get sent to jail.

Switch on lights. Walk to front of car and check if they come on. If they do then tick the box

I don't know why the OP is asking here and not just going back to his mechanic to get the box ticked.

Only gets ticked for electric cars - Mazda 3's don't count

Doey… Just do what pjetson said above…

You would have a nightmare if you knew how little of the things on that list in your service schedule were actually done… :-( At some places they are known to just stamp the book and nothing else…

  • Theres not much to check in electrical system until you get standed in the middle of nowhere

  • I went back to the mechanic and he said I can tick it for you but I don't have the equipment to check it at all. I'm not worried so much about the electrical system as much as the implications it would have on my warranty if an issue were to occur. I.e. If Mazda says 'Well you didn't get your electrical systems checked on this occasion and have breached the conditions for servicing, so we won't cover you".

Should I just get him to tick it for me despite him saying he doesn't even have the equipment to check it? Thanks for the responses guys

    • If its his responsibility either through agreement or warranty conditions to check the electrical - get him to check the electrical!

    • just tick it yourself now (you can bring the car to mechanic but that just waste of petrol and time) and service at Mazda from now on..

Speaking of which, have you actually read the warranty terms and conditions? It might say you have to service at Mazda dealers from the start.
