wow never knew it costs so much to hire removalists. I hired a truck with panalift gate for 24hrs at a price of $118 (included extended insurance of $20 to minimise cost in case of an accident). I guess labour in aus always outweighs the cost of an item.

yes, but you need to move everything yourself… plus, you need to pay the petrol and excessive KM usage considering how many trips you may need to do if you dont know how to pack a truck.

it is actually pretty competitive.. $115/2 = $57.50 each staff member, not taking in the time it takes to travel to the depot (aka, their home) and to your house.. also that is not even factoring in rego, maintenance, fuel costs, insurance, tax, etc.

      Just my own story.

From Sydney to Adelaide, about 7m3 space needed, inspected and quoted by a company (not the rep's company), I even went to the price compare site to get a few quotes, the cheapest $2700 around.

As it was interstate, so I did not think I can do it by myself, so went with the lowest guy.

Before you pay anything, they looked pretty good, talked nicely and seemed professional.

Once you paid first 30%, they got your stuff, then issues come one after another.

I ended up with a bill of $4700, and I had to pay it within 24 hrs of the truck arrival, otherwise they sent truck to their own storage place and start to charge me storage fees. The day before delivery, they asked me to get up 5am in the morning so they can unload the stuff and go back, otherwise, extra fees for delivery…

at 5am one that day, I stood in cold wind for about 30min, they arrived. A old guy (50-60) and a teenager boy, yes, thats right, the old guy just a traffic controller and the teen did the muscles. at least 5 times, I saw the guy dropped my furnitures or scratched something and I asked them to be careful with it, they simply said "it's OK", and asked me to make insurance claims if I worried about anything…

not saying the rep's company does the same, just my story…

  • I can hear (read) very well without being yelled at!

I reckon it's pretty good price. In Sydney you pay more and they normally screw you and charge you travel each way

    • +2

"In Sydney…they normally screw you" Yep,but not just in Sydney. My brother gave em (not this mob) a case of beer, they stole his camera. My father paid for extra insurance, they (not this mob) pocketed the premium (unfortunately then rolled the truck).

In 5 interstate moves and an intra city (brisbane) move only once has there been no thiefs, malicious damage, or extra charges not disclosed.

It is a corrupt industry. The employees learn from their bosses.

      Do it slowly and DIY.

        "Do it slowly and DIY"

this is it and most importantly DIY. As mentioned I paid sub $120 for a panalift truck and was able to move all the items I intended (tables, bookshelf's, bedding, tiles, all the stuff I needed (about 4 trips) and the only extra cost was fuel for around $20.

If I was to pay $118 per hour I would have a hole in my pocket.

        Brissy1,

You can rest assured we're not thieves or crooks. You will also be glad to know we're a fully insured service that has absolutely no hidden charges. So if the industry has a few cowboys running around, i don't believe it's fair to reprimand the entire industry. We are a family business that takes pride in their services with also many other hardworking, honest and reliable servicemen out there in the industry as well.

        • are all staff police checked? that could help people with trust issues.

          @joshuah:

They certainly are, as all our workers also work in other industries that require Police and finderprint checks. All the guys have also been processed with fundamental attributes such as trustworthiness and customer service assessed.

WTF has this got to do with the OP?

2 whinges about other companies - one guy talks about DIY, the other one about his bad experiences with who knows who.

Can anyone report on Gorilla, or how their prices and service compare to other removalists?

How do these negs get through?

        • Hello Jasckspratt, please check the rates at "Man with a Van" as they are our competitors as well as Little Red Tuck. Both are professional services that display their prices as we do. For any further inquiries, please just give us a buzz and we'll be happy to answer any queries you may have.

        • quite a bit actually, if you can't figure that out then you've just added to a post count.

Need a deal on bread to go with all of this SPAM

I have used these guys and they are great. Prices are fair and yes it's cheaper to do it yourself. It's also cheaper paint your own house, rather than use a painter but I don't have the time or energy any more.

  • Any others can comment on this removalis? I'm looking for a mover as we'll in Sydney. I've seen my neighbour's removalist who worked extra slow to clock up the hours.

    • Sydney, Victoria?

      • Thanks for your inquiry, we are located in Victoria and operate state wide!

    • Hey ca6leguy, please review our comments on Google or Gumtree!
