120

I've been eyeing on the prices for HKG and LAX flights during January next year for a while now. These seem like pretty good prices. Just as a bargain indicator, the cheapest for SYD-LAX return on SkyScanner at the moment is $1488 compared to $1299 with this deal; and SYD-HKG return is $1002 compared to $808.

Here is the full list from Sydney. Some are good deals; some you can probably get a better price with budget airlines if you don't need the full service.

Fly from Sydney to:
- Auckland $209 one-way
- Christchurch $209 one-way
- Wellington $209 one-way
- Singapore $649 return
- Bangkok $749 return
- Kuala Lumpur $749 return
- Penang $749 return
- Chiang Mai $750 return
- Phuket $771 return
- Kuala Lumpur $749 return
- Jakarta $788 return
- Hong Kong $808 return
- Koh Samui $825 return
- Manila $868 return
- Shanghai $869 return
- Tokyo $1049 return
- Los Angeles $1299 return
- Santiago $1399 return
- Johannesburg $1499 return
- Dallas Fort Worth $1649 return
- New York $1649 return
- London $1849 return

Travel periods for the cheapest flights differ for each route. It is safe to say that it is not during December to-mid January. Need to check individual route.

Some flights have special conditions to them: eg. some are only applicable on Monday - Thursday only, some have a surcharge on weekends etc. Read them carefully.

I'm guessing Dany34 doesn't need the full service and is happy to fly with budget airlines like AirAsia.

referring to the news today. Sure the deal is fine

        • +2

How is today's news relevant? Sure, the destinations are the same but that wasn't even the reason why the tragedy happened. I can understand if you suddenly fear flying from all these accidents. I can also understand if it is the same route "the same thing could happen". I can even understand if this deal's carrier is Malaysian Airlines "oh, two tragedies in such a short time, should stay away" but even that is irrelevant because both of them were caused by external factors and it could've happened to any other airline.

        • @ronnknee:

Hate to be 'that guy' but we don't know what caused MH317, it could be a bunch of things. And there are at least questions about what MH17 was doing in that dangerous area of Ukrainian airspace.

        • @ronnknee:

The one thing you do not understand is a joke. Calm down. Probably stupid to be making a joke about it all anyway so you have a point there. Deal looks like it took some effort sorry if you took my comment the wrong way.

        • @glengyron: Yes, we don't know what happened to MH370 but my point is that it could've happened to any other airline.

    • Not funny.

  • How did u get Sydney-lax 1049$ return?

    • It's a typo. The correct price is shown in the title. I have fixed it now.

  • Been watching SYD-LAX too, but Virgin are doing LAX return for $1198 (I'm looking at March)

  • One way from syd to Hong Kong is not in discount.

  • London $1849 return, that's not a bargain flight.

  • USA prices aren't great. I'll hold out a bit longer

  • Good price for Koh Samui
