Android Phone Under $100

Looking for a phone with these features:

dual sim
Prefer 8mp camera or better
prefer 8gb rom

Don't really care about anything else.

Vodafone Huawei G526 nearly fits the bill:

except no dual sim is the deal breaker, any other options?

    any other options?

There are lots of options if you are willing to import a phone from overseas.

Under $100? Not possible. Try at least $150.

The Huawei G526 is only 4GB ROM with 5 megapixel camera, also don't forget this is a phone that usually costs $179 upfront from Voda…

If you can get it at $79 Target price, it's already the best phone you can purchase with a hundred dollar bill.

  • Yeah I'd settle for the g526 at that price except I need the dual sim

Just on the off-chance that it hasn't crossed your mind, consider carrying an extra-cheap, light, small feature-phone/dumbphone (which you may already own), for call/text secondSIM duty. It's an option.

I have an old phone that gets occasional use. Light enough such that I can even forget that it's in my pocket sometimes.

If you can still find the G526 for $79, even buying a new dp might see you scrape in under your $100.

Only reason I want dual sim is so I can put my mobile broadband plan sim into it and not have to buy any data for my phone.

A bit different to most people's use of dual-SIM. I'm presuming that you have a phone plan with little or no data attached.

A variation on my suggestion above is to buy an ultra-cheap Android and use it as a wi-fi hotspot for your main phone.

Personally, I wouldn't want to use either of these for much else, but one or t'other would make for a very cheap little modem for your broadband SIM.

Mind me asking what the usual is?

        • No, I don't mind, and I am just going to assume that you're not being facetious.

Alot of people - and they are probably 'the norm' - who don't seem to ever venture very far from wi-fi, do appear to manage ok with a plan-attached allowance of just a few hundred MB's of data per month. Most other people seem to be using between one and a couple of GB's of 3G/4G data per month. Just a fraction of the populace (I'm in that minority) appear to use substantially above that level.

Apologies for the late reply - my email inbox is a monster.

        • @Tas:

That's a lot of data per month. Is it work or personal related?

        • @aeoz:
Complex webpages, and Tumblr (OzBargain is seriously data-friendly in comparison), really do add-up, but you'll find that any significant Youtube content while on mobile-data is the real killer for me and most; only way to keep up with my sub-feed; some others would also be in the same situation; time-management; aaargh; etc.

  • Yeah phone plan with 0 data. I have thought about just carrying my modem around with me, but don't want to have to carry something else around everywhere so decided against that, dual sim is what i need.

    • Fair enough, but as scrimshaw indicated, your hamstrung for anything standalone decent at your desired price.

      • @Tas: Ok, do you see that first word beginning with a 'y' in that sentence? It really could've used an apostroph…e <+an extra letter not unlike that one. Twit.
