  • Which are better, the Kingston V300s or the Transcend SSD370s they currently have on sale ???

    • +1

transcend has a better read and write.

      • and only a few $ more…

        • plus 16 more gb

    • There's actually no proper reviews or benchmarks for Transcend SSD370 so can't compare.
They do give specs of Read: 570MB/s, Write: 470MB/s but no idea what benchmark program they used.

Kingston V300 Compressible Data Transfer all capacities: 450MB/s Read and 450MB/s Write

      • Trescend drive use a new generation chipset, which should be better than the tech in the v300 series.
It should be on par with likes of m500 in real life performance

It is sad to see v300 performance hampered as it used to be good.

Kingston did the old switcharoo -http://www.anandtech.com/show/7763/an-update-to-kingston-ssdnow-v300-a-switch-to-slower-micron-nand

    Half the speed :/

    • nice link

  • Micro SD card prices are now like peanut

    • hard and nutty?

  • Great deal, just what i need now, thanks !!!

  • I already had two SSDs im trying to workout what to do with from another machine! Ahh the temptation.

  • Stay away from kingston v300 series, unless you only got a Sata 1 era machine, such as those still running core / core 2 pre 2008 systems,, cause the Sata transfer speed would make it so slow enough for user to notice less of the problem…

I got an old first gen drive, it was fast.
These current batch of drives should sell for 89 for 240 and 169 for 480

  • The Kingston SSDNow V300 needs to be cheaper to be even worth the effort, just doesn't make sense.
(happy with my Transcend 256gb ssd)

  • Kingston V300 needs to be half that price for half the performance!!

  • If this was just used as a windows server install drive on a HP microserver this would be fine wouldn't it?

Still much faster reading than a mechanical drive so there are obvious benefits?

the prices havent gone down yet? doesnt it start today??

    • SSD are instore online.. but accessory should be online by now.. >.<

      • +2

yeah im trying to purchase the samsung 32gb and 64gb online but still showing old prices…

  • +1

just spoke to msy apparently the systems should be updated to reflect the promotion pricing within the next 10m or so.

  • cool…just checked..havent yet..will check again later

    thanks!

Prices have been updated. Checked at 11:14AM

  • First time dealing with MSY. Is there an option to pick up if I want to order one of the microsd cards?

Or if I need to buy it in-store, will there be a good chance it will still be available tomorrow night?

    • Just rock up in store and pick one 64gb SDXCs, Don't bother with ordering online, by the time they get to your online order, it would have been SOLD OUT.
PS I don't know how to delete my comment below.

  • picked up 2 x 64gb SDXCs - ty OP.

  • Ultimo had approx 20 units in stock when I got them at 3:30pm.

Picked up the 2x8GB USBs which scanned for $0. They're pretty rubbish, only write at 8-9MB/s

  • +1

my closest MSY is 120km away, figured i'd check out how much it would be to post one of the 32gb EVO microSDs seeing as they are order-able online. I mean how much can it cost to post a tiny little MicroSD card.. apparently $13. bleh.

    • Obviously a ploy to get people into the shop but I am in the same boat and am not impressed. Makes Shopping Express deal for 49.95 shopping included look good. I might wait a little longer until my 16gb maxes out.
