But shit, it was ninety-nine cents! (Bag it)
Coppin' it, washin' it, 'bout to go and get some compliments
Passin' up on those moccasins someone else's been walkin' in
Bummy and grungy, f*** it, man
I am stuntin' and flossin' and
Savin' my money and I'm hella happy that's a bargain, bitch
I'ma take your grandpa's style, I'ma take your grandpa's style,
No for real - ask your grandpa - can I have his hand-me-downs? (Thank you)
Velour jumpsuit and some house slippers
Dookie brown leather jacket that I found diggin'
They had a broken keyboard, I bought a broken keyboard
I bought a skeet blanket, then I bought a kneeboard
Hello, hello, my ace man, my Mello
John Wayne ain't got nothing on my fringe game, hell no
I could take some Pro Wings, make them cool, sell those
The sneaker heads would be like "Aw, he got the Velcros"

    Yay dead people's clothes.

  • Their motto there on the Facebook page is incredibly misleading. Finding a "designer brand" item is like finding a needle in a haystack at Savers. Lots of secondhand Kmart and Target and Supre stuff is more accurate perhaps.

    • Yeah they actually had to close a branch because they didn't have anything nice enough to interest the people of Frankston.

  • If I lived in Victoria, I'd do the treasure hunt. Those horrible "worn" shoes? I've gotten Stuart Weitzman sandals, presumably from someone's New Years or special event outfit, in barely worn condition for under $50 at a Red Cross thrift shop in QLD. Funny how one's weirdness about wearing someone else's shoes goes away when you're saving $300. ;-) Generally, I've found clothing in thrift stores to be not that great, but the occasional prize find makes it worth checking these places out when I'm near them. (And, what? No mention of the 1970's woolen suits from pommie-land? That seems to be one of the more common things on the shelves, to an extent that makes me giggle. I mean, this being AUSTRALIA and all, woolen suits are a very niche purchase.)

The reason why its hard to find good stuff is apparently there is rampant theft of items that get donated - either in the bins at night or during the day with casual volunteer sorters (ok not theft - just put away for personal purchase so you never see it).

I think i've seen on ebay theres a few sellers where its impossible they are selling the kids used clothes etc. eg. they have 100's of items a week of all different sizes. and no mention of it being an official business - seems iffy

  • High turnover at Savers…
