    • Works out to be cheaper if you don't already have a Costco membership.

      Probably Grey Import though

      • Not probably… IS!
Meaning no manufacturers warranty and no manufacturers liability!!!

      • most likely a black import!

    • i've been to tempe tyres before and their tyre was >5 yrs old.

not sure if that is the case for this one but they do sell expired tyres.

Costco also offer free puncture repairs and rotations for all tyre purchases

    Bugger need 225/45/17. So close

you can still run these if you want to. check with them.

      • no thanks. my car isnt a shopping trolley. Keen to keep to the original spec. wider tyres would also scrape my front guards.

    • Try a slight oversize at 235/45/17. This is a Commodore size and the volume means this size is cheaper than the one you're chasing, for Pirelli P Zero Nero for example. Generally you can do this oversize without issues, it's just 1 cm onto the tyre width. I did this on my daughters Dodge Caliber and that meant I could fit Minerva F105s, a very economical and very good tyre for <$100 a corner (the Minerva F105 is a latter day clone of the legendary Yokohama A01). Please, no Minerva hate mail, we all have our preferences!!

      • To each his budget… But I'm wondering whether the Minerva F105 is any better than the Autogrip F105, Trakmax F105, Rotalla F105 or Rockstone F105??? ;)
Ps. the 235 is also 9mm taller (which isn't that much), but must legally go on a minumum 7.5" wide rim. Quite a few Japs and Euros only have 7"s, so just check that out first!

    Good price for a ps3

    Sorry… No deal!!!
As much as I'm not a fan of BJ… No, the other BJ, Bob Jane. I'd much rather pay the extra $4 and know that I'm going to be covered by the manufacturer's 6 year warranty!!!

    • +1

you will get the same warranty from the manufacturer if you buy them from Costco. They are supplied by Michelin Australia and no parallels.

      • Whoops… Sorry!!! I was still in Tempe Tyres (parallel import) train of thought after following TA's link and forgot this listing is for Costco!!!
Costco (if you have a membership), and BJ much much better options!!!

        • Hi Snoop. How do you tell they're grey imports at Tempe, or any other outlet for that matter? I had no idea!

        • @tightarse:
with 22 years in the industry!!!

        • @Snoop:

So a normal person driving into a normal tyre outlet, would have no idea?

You learn something new every day.

        • @tightarse:
Pretty much. But you can always check their website or call their 1300 number to find your nearest authorised dealer!
Or by playing around on the net. With the amount of forums out there and people posting about such topics, it's not hard to find out who's doing what nowadays!!!

          @Snoop:
Awesome info. Glad I posted that link or I never would have known. Thanks Snoop.

Just one other thing, buying a grey import doesn't make them any less a tyre than buying from Costco or BJ, right?

        • @tightarse:
If it's the exact same tyre, correct! Only warranty issue!
And morals if you're that way inclined. I've even bought from them myself! $160 for some Pirelli that would've cost me $330 otherwise, you can understand why!!!

        • @Snoop:
Cheers mate. I'll PM you next time I need a set of tyres :)

        • @tightarse:
No probs. I can definitely steer you in the right direction, but I don't really look after the public!

        • @Snoop:
How many warranty claims are there. I have never heard of any from friends or family (and I am 50yo)
Just wondering how common warranty claims are for passenger tyres.

        • @tightarse: Yes Snoop has been very helpful with my questions about the current Bridgestone and YOKO offers. I cannot thank him enough… cheers mate..

On another note, should I put this offer into my consideration now, I wish I know more about tyres…

          @PVA:
Firstly, that depends on the brand!!!
It's reasonably common on cheaper tyres having tread separations, out of round, etc. Not so much on the better brands, but even I have experienced an issue once with a Pirelli tyre. In retail you may process one a day on average, In wholesale you may process anywhere from 2 or 3 to a dozen or more. It also depends how big your company is and what brands you distribute!

NO!!! Don't go down in size!!! Wear quicker, throw speedo out more and understeer a little (under performance driving conditions)!
