Philips Air Fryer Avance XL - $296 (JB Hi-Fi Home)

70

Hi All

Ive been looking for a good deal on the philips airfryer XL (1.2kg) which retails for about $450. Ive heard generally good reviews on these so was specifically after the philips rather than the cheaper versions that sell around $100 (eg kogan)

This is the cheapest ive found at jb hifi home for $296 delivered to me for free in sydney.
The next closest i found was at the good guys or powerland in warwick farm (sydney) for about $50 more

Comes with 2 year warranty. Model Code HD9240/90

Smitty, can you sum up in a few words, what do you get for the extra cost (over and above the cheaper versions?).

Obviously, the size is one thing. But are there any other benefits?

    • Consume more power. My wife prefer the small one for energy saving towards oven.

The xxl version uses more power but could stack up more. 1.2 vs 800 gram

if so might as well uses oven? my wife's argument

  • Got this recently at TGG for $298, which is basically cost including rebates (I've got a mate who's a store manager), so this is a hot price.

  • I am new to airfry tech. Is it different to oil fry in terms of taste and crispiness?

Taste is close to oil fried and the crispiness is pretty much however long you want to cook it for. I've got kids and it's perfect for pumping out quick snack food, 10 mins or less for 90% of stuff (chips, nuggets, hash browns, meat pie, crumbed lamb cutlets (8 mins per side) YUM!

Highly recommend the phillips as it's super easy to clean (smashes the Tefal type in this way) and is faster too. And spend the extra $ for the increased capacity, it's worth it IMO.

Not the same. I have a regular sized Phillips air fryer, chicken wings are great but chips are only OK.

Did you pre heat fryer first?

I usually fry chips twice, first time 160c for 10-15 minutes, then take out it, shake it, then fry 5-10 minutes at 180c.

Anyone thinking of getting one of these be wary. They are huge. Go and see one then make your decision.

  • also worth a look is the Tefal actifry at $169 which is usually around the $250 mark

    • The tefal is horrendous to clean by comparison, but do cook well too

  • Just got one price matched at Harvey Norman, plus extended warranty to 5yrs total $350. Made a batch of fries with no oil, works gr8.

  • The sale is over? doh….
