Although I have read good things about the Samson SR850's for the price, they are both very different designs. People who wear headphones out and about have different needs to home listeners, hence you can't really say one is better than the other, even if one sounds better ( to you ). Portability and compactness is also important to some people. I have not heard the Samsons, but I have owned and really liked the Sony MDR-ZX600. They have a really nice ballance, with clear mids, nice bright but not harsh highs, and warm controlled bass. They are also very comfortable and balanced to wear, even lighter on than they look. Build fairly solid with metal inside headband, and have a classy, yet understated modern look to them. I paid twice as much as this for them on sale ( use to be RR $99 for a few years ), and was happy with the quality. If these are genuine, then they are a good bargain and with care give you years of pleasure. Enjoy
