Samsung or SanDisk SD card?

Hi all,

Looking for a SD card for my Sony RX100.

Currently juggling between Sandisk Extreme Plus 32GB ($52 from MSY) or Samsung Pro 32GB ($28 from MSY)

As you can see, Samsung is almost half the price with same write speed as Sandisk (both advertise up to 80mb/s). Question is if Sandisk really that much more superior to Samsung?

Appreciate your input! Thanks

  • The 80MB/s figure is the read speed. It's the write speed that makes the Sandisk cost more - it does up to 60MB/s while the Samsung does up to 40MB/s.

The Samsung will work just fine in the RX100. That's what I use in mine.

If you were using it with a DSLR and use burst mode a lot, I would probably get the faster card.

  • I use the samsung evo microsd, which is the model below the pro, and it works great with my gopro doing 1080p 60fps and 720p 120fps. I've always had bad luck with Sandisk sd and usb so I don't buy them anymore

  • The samsung u1 cards are the most reliable. Constant fast speeds with no peaks or drops. If your device is UHS compatible, I'd go samsung.

otherwise, Sandisk has faster burst speeds and will be best noticed in tings like phones.
