USB Microscope $49 at Aldi

140

I remember when I got a microscope for my 12th Birthday, USB's didn't exist back then.

You had to draw what you saw, through the lens.

But with this microscope you can take photos. With most scientific journal requesting photos of microscopic findings these days, I believe it will be easier for you to get a publication in a reputable journal!

As for cost it is only $49.

It only goes about to 200X soom but at this price this is pretty good.

Dupe or not… these microscopes are great.

We have a proper expensive binocular Nikon microscope in our lab, with camera attachments and blah blah.

We also have an Aldi USB microscope.

Guess which one gets used to create images to go in technical reports and spec sheets…

I think I'm going to get one for my daughter.

    • Well said barefoot. It convinced me to buy.

Not sure Aldi accepts kids as payment

    • @barefoot, hows the focus on the Aldi scope? Seen reviews that said it was fidgety especially at higher magnifications.

Bought it! Love it! Computer detects it as a webcam which is amusing.

    • It is not for sale until Aug 2. How did you buy it?

  • I like this so much I want to buy it for my 2 years old Nephew upcoming birthday.
    but then he's only 2…..

You'll be able to see him better with this.

  • It looks great! I will buy one for my daughter and myself:)

  • How do these compare with the ones from Deal Extreme? For instance this one looks decent (2MP camera, ~20-800x zoom) for $38.66 delivered:

Just bought the usb microscope. A word of caution for anyone else trying to install the CD that comes with the microscope. There's an adware on in and it forces you to install a dupe version of Quicktime and Real Video Player. You're better off using a camera software that has been pre-installed on your computer/laptop.

Avoid the software installation at all costs. Other than that, the microscope works a charm.
