Steam Mop bought through Living Social now does not work

I bought a steam mop through Living Social in October last year and now its stopped working. I emailed Living Social and they gave me an email address of the company ([email protected]). So I sent them an email and guess what it bounced back. I then emailed Living Social and they basically wiped their hands cleaned. First they said substantial time has passed to which I pointed out it hasn't even been a year and a steam mop should last at least a year. I also mentioned there should have been a warranty for at least a year which they replied with there was no warranty. So it appears the company that supplied the steam mop has since gone under and Living Social are not willing to help me.

Do I have any rights at all? Is it worth calling ACCC?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks OzBargainers :)

I'd contact the manufacturer to see if you can get a replacement. Depending on how much it cost you, it might not be worth the effort.

    • Thanks ozhunter yeah I'll try that but I agree I don't think it's worth the cost. Especially because they probably don't have a manufacturing line in WA.

  • Do you have an email where they stated there is no warranty? If so that's a breach of the Australian consumer law. All products by law have warranty and stating there is no warranty is a false and misleading statement.

The problem with buying through group buying websites is that they usually act as agents for the sellers and are not the actual retailer (read their T&Cs). So you might have limited recourse through living social.
