OzGameShop vs. 365games

Why is ozgameshop so much more expensive than their sister site, 365games? Is it just blatant ripping off Aussies? Their latest deal is a combo deal for 3 PC games:

At ozgameshop, it's 3 PC games for $13 (+ $2 shipping), while 365games is "3 for £5" with free shipping. From Google, £5 = ~$9 (heck, even $10 with shitty exchange rate), compared with $15 for an identical deal. Same owner, same location, same products, but 50% more expensive for Aussies.

"Is it just blatant ripping off Aussies?" - Yes. Regional pricing. They can do whatever the hell they like :(

Steam is one of the worst for it. Being digital, there is really no excuse. It's not just ozgameshop though (I get alot from them). The whole gaming industry takes Aus for a ride. It's been an ongoing issue for many, many years.

  • This is the reply I got when I questioned the price difference on facebook:

"Hey, one of the main reasons behind this is that we have to price our games competitively for the market. If we were to offer games at too low a price on ozgameshop it could be seen as damaging to competition in Australia. AH"

So basically, they're ripping us off because everyone else is ripping us off. What logic!

  • Having never bought from 365games can you buy from them or do they only deliver to Aust via Ozgameshop?

    • Yes you can. I bought something from 365games recently, and paid about $10 less than I would have from ozgameshop.

The only difference between the two is for 365games, you have to pay in British pounds, but get free shipping. I think they are officially different businesses, so you'll need a new account etc.

  • I don't even buy from the UK these days. I used to buy tons from OzGS. Local retailers aren't gouging us $120 for a new game anymore, though. Now the release day prices from Big W/JB etc are at least as good, if not better than OzGS or the like.

    • They tend to be better for when you're a patient gamer for somethings like myself. ie Stick of Truth, I'm waiting for it to hit about $20. It'll do that faster in the UK then in Australia (although it sounds like I'd rather the au version).

  • any good deals atm ?

and who owns 360/ oz ?
