Yeah you use an old video card to upgrade even older video card :P

I still have boxes at home running nVidia TNT2 :)

      • your tnt2 is pci-e?? sweet

      • Sorta, only if they are of the same form factor. This card that is being advertised is a PCI-e card, though if it was AGP or even PCI, it may be a worthwhile upgrade. However PCI-e cards (mid range) are so cheap these days!

    • more importantly - this is a slow card!

probably slower than a 6800GT. - only thing this has going is half height.

      • yup… so might be good for a htpc computer with a small case…

  • No deal… 256mb? hardly see new cards with only 256mb.

msy are selling 8400GS as well… but with 512mb and for $39.00

  • so it supposed to be a downgrade??lol

    • well… someone did point out that it could be an upgrade… if your existing card is older than this card…lol

  • Good for Integrated Graphics users who want TV out or DVI out but have no real graphics demands.

  • 512mb model @ MSY is probably a better value card, the only thing I can think of that you could upgrade from is an AIO mobo, as this is already a base level PCI-E card.

  • The 512MB version of this is stupid and pointless. The card is so slow you would rarely benefit in any games.

Seems like a great card to upgrade from integrated graphics.

  • I've got two PCI-e 1X 8400 GS cards, if anyone cares to make an offer.

I used to use them for 3-display on my mobo, which only has one 16X slot. so i got these to use the second 1X slot.

It works just fine for google earth, video enhancements etc, and even does some 264.x decoding lol.

and yes, they output 2 VGA sockets.

(and i apologise if i posted this in the wrong spot. let me know)

    • Should post in the forum and other might interest :)

      • Yeah! bring it on - ozbargainbay.com.au!

  • Perhaps it's the hour, but I don't see shipping prices on the website. I could use this card for one of my systems, but I'm not if shipping is going to be a deal breaker.

  • Anybody have a reasonably powerful agp card they want to get rid of?
