    that's not PNY or PALIT

Yeah, it's ZOTAC 😂 same banana

    • I'd give it a touch better rep than the other 2 though. All opinion though.

      • +14

Honestly all 3 are quite reputable. I'd be more worried about Asus and gigabyte these days, as both are known for trying to dodge warranties.

    • +10

Why do any of those brands have a bad reputation? Way things are right now I'd be more reluctant to buy from ASUS than any of those three.

      • +3

Tbh, with the other three. Their designs are pretty trash.

But have been recently burned on an asus 7900xt RMA. Never buying asus again.

After paying this amount of coin on a graphics card you will be broke, so the only game you can affort to play will be the original Doom (shareware edition) with software rendering.

  • +3

The price should be $5090. Catching up soon…

    Next 6090 would cost $6090

Will it run PhysX for Batman Arkham games?

    Finally a good gpu deal

  • +1

People care about the colour of their GPUs?

    • It's like with racism: white is right!

    • +2

white builds often look better when coupled with rgb

    • Got to post the millionth build pic on r/nvidia to get those fake internet validation points, never to care about the look of the pc ever again.

  • how many FPS will it play fortnite at 1080p?

    Will minecraft play this?

  • I had a EVGA GTX 1070 OC die mid last year so 8 years worth of use. Is this a decent replacement? I plan to use for 8 years if it can last. The card cost $500 ish the year I bought it.

    • +3

Personally id get a 5080 which is 1/2 the price. You could get an entire new system with a 5080 for the price of a 5090, which might be good if your gpu is just as old as the 1070. Or wait for the 5080 super if you'd like

      • Have both and if I could do it again I'd have 2 5090 instead of the 5080.

        • Whys that?

          • @Bigbanger666: Don't get me wrong, 5080 is a great card but the 5090 means no compromise.
Like having to reduce settings in Indiana Jones because running out of VRAM. And having to reduce settings to hit 60fps in some games.

          • +3

@Bigbanger666: He's an all or nothing guy

This is solid advice! Jokes aside (the 1070 story is true btw), the DLSS model is getting so good that turning down a few graphics and using DLSS in Balance mode or even performance looks impressively good at a couch to TV viewing distance that blows away anything that's available on other platforms currently. You can easily hit 120 fps plus in many titles. Unreal engine seems to not look too much different between high and ultra and the performance uplift from switching from ultra to high is worth it. The 5080 super sounds like something to go for.

        • To be honest DLSS looks like blurry trash to me. Regardless of which quality setting. Especially in Expedition 33.

Most games look best in TAA, with 80-90% resolution scaling, and max Antii-Aliasing. Try it for yourself.

          • @Caring: Turn off chromatic aberration and any artificial sharpening. They added a lot of post-processing to the image that makes it a bit ugly in some ways. There is a mod that further removed the chromatic aberration and other effects I believe.

    • +2

Nice! 8 years out of a GPU is good runnings. I had my old GTX660 for 8 years (2012-2021), and that card cost me about $220.

    • 1070 GTX! There are dozens of us, dozens!

  • Got this model from Umart a while back for $5099. Can't say a bad word other than price.

  • Works with Runescape?

  • +1

Buy just the video card and have no cash left over to buy the rest of the PC or buy an entire PC and not the 5090 and pretty much any other videocard in the 50x range and own a complete machine I can use

    Tough decision

  • How many fps in Doom Dark Ages?

<:odinheartjgreen:1106441051109072936> DOOM: The Dark Ages Update Out Now, Adding Path Tracing, DLSS 4 With Multi Frame Generation & DLSS Ray Reconstruction <:odinheartjgreen:1106441051109072936>
      • Take image quality in DOOM: The Dark Ages to new heights with the addition of PC-exclusive path tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction!
      • A new DOOM: The Dark Ages update that’s out now adds path tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction, making the battle against Hell all the more immersive.
      • Path tracing takes the quality of ray-traced lighting to the next level, reflecting additional detail and game elements on surfaces.
      • Additionally, NVIDIA Spatial Hash Radiance Cache (SHaRC) technology is leveraged to performantly compute path-traced light, NVIDIA Shader Execution Reordering accelerates performance, and DLSS Ray Reconstruction enhances image quality and performance.
      • DOOM: The Dark Ages features always-on ray-traced global illumination lighting - with path tracing, light from the sun, moon, and hellish skyboxes bounces multiple times, illuminating more game elements at a higher level of detail. Bounced light can be cast onto NPCs and enemies, too, and in general everything looks even better, with light reacting more realistically.
      • Path Traced Performance with DLSS Super Resolution Performance + 4X Multi Frame Generation + DLSS Ray Reconstruction:
        • At **4K **- Path traced DOOM: The Dark Ages gameplay at up to 230 frames per second on GeForce RTX 5090 and up to 160 frames per second on GeForce RTX 5080
        • At **1440p **- Ranging from over 170 frames per second on the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, up to 268 frames per second on the GeForce RTX 5090.
        • At **1080p **- GeForce RTX 5090 running at over 310 frames per second, the GeForce RTX 5080 GPUs at over 260 frames per second, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti at almost 240 frames per second, and the GeForce RTX 5070 at 200 frames per second.

      @NVIDIA Announcements

      • Hmm, why would anyone need to play Doom at 230fps?

  • Use the decoder in this to run games via the cloud using GeForce NOW.

    • +1

I tried that a while back and the lag was shockingly bad and I’m not on slow Internet.

      • My comment was a joke but in all honesty, try again. I use it regularly and lag is imperceptible to me on their Ultimate plan using a 1000 connection (about 15ms ping).

  • +3

I cannot fathom how a GPU is now in the price ballpark for a first P platers car. I understand why people want to max out their games but this is a fair chunk out of the average joe's yearly salary…

    • +1

I see both sides of it - on the one hand, it's crazy expensive compared to what we're accustomed to/what you used to pay, and yes, a decent chunk of money in the absolute sense. Although the current trend seems to be they do have decent residual value (see 4090 used pricing).

However…it's still actually kind of cheap compared to a lot of other hobbies? There's not a lot of hobbies where you could get absolute top of the line for $5-$7k.

Comparing to people who are into cars for example, some people will spend that just on a set of wheels or an exhaust which does profanity all. Also see Boats/Jetskis, sim racing, photography, golf, cycling, audiophiles etc. Hell even in the PC space, there's plenty of people with $1000s worth collections of keyboards/mice/headsets alone.

All that being said, I remember my first real splurge PC was built literally to answer "can it run Crysis", dual GTX 280s in SLI which I got both of them for ~$600…so yeah ='(
And yes, it ran Crysis, full HD ultra everything.

      • +2

Yeah but imagine spending 5k on a GPU only to find there isn’t a single game that’s worth it.

      • +1

Don't forget to adjust for inflation! $600 in 2008 is equivalent to… $900 in 2024… how much does 3 metres of rope and a chair cost?

  • +1

Black version for $100 more ($4999), also the Zotac Amp Extreme and Gigabyte Windforce for the same price.

I still think there's about $1000 more to drop on these. The Palit/PNY/Inno3d (and to a lesser extent Zotac) cards seem to have stabilised stock levels, and I think we'll head toward the MSRP (ish) cards getting back to where they started, with the beefed up models ranging up to $1k more over the next few months.

  • I don't get the point of this card. Why would anyone need to play Doom at 230 fps?
