I thought that said "my mate died this week". And in my head I thought, "thus you need to give him tribute by buying an Xbox 360?"

    • not a mate, "mates", "My mates died this week"
      OP going through alot

      EDIT:

is this post serious? or a typo?

Why would it not be serious? Sorry, didn't realise you had to be a literature expert to post here.

you dont need to be an 'expert' to know how to use apostrophes

EB games 2nd or New 256Gb with Kinect sensor bundle is $199 in Microsoft store.

    • Thanks! Just had a look but it is out of stock :(

  • Yes, a missing apostrophe can totally change things. I actually thought that you were saying that all your mateS (plural) had died… so you were after an X-box, presumably to pass the time, cause now you had nothing to do.
As the nemo-loser points out above in the most minimalist-yet-informative post I've ever seen (not even a single letter in it!), what you meant was:
    … my mate's
The apostrophe indicates that you are referring to someone who owned something. Rather than all your mates dying in the same week.

    • Can't Xbox be op's mate (or rather Xboxes)? :)

  • "Can't Xbox be op's mate…"

That's a pretty cool idea Zero… I might write some "virtual friend" software for the trusty X-box, for peeps whose mates have all died. It could be programmed to respond to all of your tales-of-woe with generic comments like "How does that make you feel?", and it could be set to generally agree with everything you say, and pretend to believe your tall stories. Until you flick it into "piss-up" mode, when it would get progressively ruder and "random", culminating in trying to pick fights with you, until you screamed "JUST F#&% OFF ya' C#&$%" at it. That would be its verbal-command to switch itself off, until you'd both sobered up.
    Genius.

  • You could go for a pre owned with a selection of games, on gumtree, should be around $100-$130

    • Thanks, but he wants a new one. Doesn't trust a pre-owned after the issues he has had.

My sides are splitting from all of the "humerus" comments over a simple missing apostrophe…
Thanks to all who provided a helpful comment, still on the lookout.
This is looking like the best buy so far:
