Company is Parking Port and the usual charge is $104. Valid to: 28 Nov 2014 If you want extra days, then you just pay the difference at the counter. You can use this voucher for less than 14 days but obviously 14 days provides the best value.

Comparing to others:

Melbourne Airport: $115- 15 day special
Andrews Parking: $119
Ace Parking: $132 1 day free may take a tiny bit off
Busy Beaver: $110
A1 Parking: $113

If you don't mind leaving your car in the street: ~$7

Of course, I probably don't need to mention that there is a Skybus ($30RT) from Southern Cross, the 901 bus/train to Broadmeadows (a few bucks), and Uber which provide alternative ways to get to and from the airport.

601 bought at time of posting. Don't forget ~4% cashback with Cashrewards/Starthere.

  • Ah yes, Skybus… the service that's pushed by the Myki trip planner but you can't actually pay the fare with a Myki card. Wow, nice one Melbourne! A great introduction for visitors (not).

Other than that this deal seems OK and the comparison is handy, cheers ;)

Visitors??? I came back from a trip a couple of years ago and thought that I won't bother anyone and just make my own mway home on public transport for a change!!! Ha… I had no idea where to go to catch it or even how to pay for it, and there wasn't anyone at the service desk to help either!!! My feedback, Tulla is a joke for transport. Only airport I've ever been to in the world without a train system!

      • Yep, pretty poor. After refusing to support the Skybus service we struggled to find the local bus stop but eventually got there in the end (very limited signage, and right down the far end away from everything). Pretty clear to us that the Skybus service is making a motsa for those involved and although I'm sure the service is fine we feel every city should have very obvious Public Transport to & from their major airport… even if it's 2nd rate and infrequent.

Ah well, we had a nice 90 minute trip to the city via BroadMeadows and I'm sure not everyone gets to experience that :p

      • Bus/train to the City is about $6 and takes an hour.

And how do you find this bus/train?
The lack of information, help and signage (as SteveAndBelle pointed out too) in our airport is ridiculous!
My first time in London and I was presented with 4 different options on how to get back to the city and/or hotel!!! Places like Zurich, Paris, New York and LA only took 5 minutes to work out… Hell, Bangkok is easier than Melbourne!

          Airport Map

They've actually moved the public bus stop a couple of times. It used to be towards the main terminal, then moved to outside Tiger (T4) and now they are on the opposite side of the airport outside T1. They don't push the public buses as its not really an efficient way to get into the city. But you take the bus to Broadmeadows station and then the train into the city.

It takes 1.5 hours according to PTV Journey Planner however that's if the buses and trains are running on time. Plus you have to factor in the time it takes for you to get to the train station.

An airport train has been proposed since the 60s.. But yes, successive state governments have ignored proper funding for public transport. It's all about building roads or "infrastructure" as our PM puts it.

True or not? a little birdy told me that the Taxi companies have held previous governments to ransom over the idea of a direct train link to the city!!! Edit: Although your link clearly suggests that Transurban and the airport itself are clearly the present day hindrances!!!

Ps. Get on a train at Broady and off another at Frankston… Thanks, got a link to cheap health insurance? ;)

        • @Snoop:

Sounds like a rumor. A government can easily make life very uncomfortable for taxi companies.

There is however a myth that Citilink has prevented a train line. The PTUA busted that one.

A train to the airport sounds great in theory but if you look at the huge costs plus that it might be slower to use the train in off-peak (due to indirect route) vs. Skybus, then it may make sense to have a more efficient bus network with dedicated bus lanes. In my opinion, train money should be spent on signalling upgrades & Melbourne Metro (the original one).

How about a monorail to the airport ;)?

  • Great find. Have a couple of trips coming up. Used Busy Beaver once, but not keen on someone holding our keys or parking our car! We usually use United, but I'm a little concerned that their website now reads "This Account Has Been Suspended"!!!

Edit: A little more concerned when you Google Streetview Parking Port's address!!! ;)

  • I use Alpha and $78.85 there so a good deal this one.

    • $120.00 (14 days) according to the quote on their site!!!
      Sorry… 'Open Air' $83 (14 days)!

      • Yes I get a discount for being a Union Shopper.

  • Hi All,

I would like to know some clarification on this Valid to: 28 Nov 2014 before i purchase this deal.

Does it mean, Car can only be parked before 28/Nov/2014 or Will have to be redeemed before 28/Nov/2014?

Can i purchase this now, Redeem before 28/Nov/2014 to be used for parking from 25/12/2014 to 06/01/2015?

    • I would either email Parking Port or Groupon to get the answer in writing. They state:

Present smartphone or printed voucher on arrival

which leads me to believe that they are going to redeem the Groupon on arrival thus meaning it has to be before November 28. Just a guess though.

    • I'd say you must use it before that date, not for a peak period like that.

  • Does anyone know how the additional days works? It says that time in excess of the period is at standard rates. Does this mean, for example, if 2 weeks and 4 days will be an extra $40 (4 day stay) or $20 (the difference in cost between a normal 2w4d stay and a normal 2w stay)?

  • Thanks. Saved me $60

  • Cheers OP - saved me $60 too
