Pocket Weather is a good Australian weather app which uses BOM data. The widget is nice too.

    • Amen to that. Chronus is what I use for telling the time, Pocket Weather for… the weather. Both are worth getting.

    • I've been using that for a while too but there doesn't seem to be a way to expand the widget to 5 icons wide instead of just 4 which leaves an unpleasant gap on the side.

    I just use Weather Australia..
It's free (with no ads? I don't know, AdBlock prevents me from seeing any)
Info from the BOM (so it's accurate as opposed to some of the farcically inaccurate ones that require payment)
Widget that does everything I need,
Would happily pay, but there isn't a pay version.

    • I use Weather Australia as well and ClockQ for time.

  • eWeather HD - no question about it, the widget is great and the detail visible is significant.

I'd supplement that with BOM Radar for rainfall radar in a widget.

Finally Weather Bomb has lots of nice graphs, etc. out to 7 days

    • If that eWeather one has wind direction and speed displayed in the widget, I might try it. Does it?

      • Just had a play and after a degree of mucking about I have the clockface widget showing wind direction and strength hour-by-hour.

Basically it does everything, including solar geomagnetic flux and earthquakes….

        • Thanks for checking that.
If it could refresh on the normal (approx.10mins where I am) Bureau-Of-Met sensor rate, that would be great. If not linked and restricted to hourly, maybe-not-so-much…

I will, however, keep in mind that seismic option if I ever end up in Cali-forn-i-a for long enough (approx.10mins for most people) to get Earthquake Paranoid!

        • @Tas:

It's forecast data, rather than BOM actual data AFAIK, so the sensor data only affects the forecast, and thus the data used.

If you want sensor data then https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.willywe… might be best, although no widget I think.

        • @sane:
Unfamiliar with 'WillyWeather'… New since I installed and carried over Pocket W and W Australia to my various Androids. Graphics look nice. I might install it and see.

As it is, pretty happy with the aforementioned - just wondering if others actually carried over proper wind updates into the widget, as opposed to current ones just being viewable in the main app.
Anyway, no great drama - in the scheme of things!

  • OP, I paid for Pocket Weather, and the widget is good for basics. However, I rarely look at that, or open the app proper.

As mentioned above, the Weather Australia app is excellent, and it is the one that I also prefer.

  • Weather and Clock widget is very good if you are after widget only.

  • Weatherzone Plus. Enough said. :)

    • New update has caused lots of problems.

  • Thanks all, ill have a look at those ones

  • went with 1weather in the end..

    • I just had a quick glance at the blurb on Google Play, but didn't see any reference to the app's use of BOM data.
IF it doesn't use it and instead utilises data from one of the independent forecasters, I would suggest that you also keep one of the other apps mentioned, on your device, and then keep an eye on both.

Trust me, you will - over time - see some very contrasting forecasts between the two, and you will - definitely - come to regard one source more highly, over and above the other.

It took a while for that to properly dawn on me after I initially installed a variety of weather apps.
Anyway, potentially save yourself some trouble, if accuracy matters to you over the other things that the app may offer.
