I would get this instead - a known brand at least (could be from the same factory though)

3000mah is tiny. The Targus one looks much better value tbh.

    • I was just doing the usual OzBargain nitpicking :D, but now I am tempted to buy the Targus. Another $20 on crap of the day, I think I will hit their free shipping threshold :/

    • iPhone 5 battery is only 1440mAh. If this thing is really 3000mAh, it should be able to recharge it one-and-a-bit times on a single charge; which is enough for my purposes.

yeah those ibricks have really crappy batterys among other things.

  • I bought this from CotD a while ago.

I wouldn't recommend it. It can be a bit 'temperamental' sometimes. Sometimes, it takes ages for the indicator to show up as 'fully charged'. Sometimes, it only goes up to 3 out of 4 lights when charging, and just stays as that.

Why do people buy these portable power banks? I bought a cheap one for $2.50 off ebay that you put 4 AA batteries into. If you use all those eneloops that you bought in previous deals that is a portable charger with around 7200mAh.
It is also great for those frequent power outages we have in Queensland after a storm as even if you don't have a bunch of eneloops sitting in your drawer you can go down to the supermarket and buy a packet of batteries to charge your phone.

Coldturkey, I'm just gonna take a wild guess…
You've never actually used your $2.50 powerbank, have you?

Eneloops each maintain an output of about 1.25 volts during the bulk of their discharge curve, and - multiplied by 4 - do give a nice, neat, 5 volt USB output, without the need for much, if any voltage regulation.

It also means that your powerbank, at its 5v output, only, at best, has a capacity that's around 2000mAh if you use regular Eneloops - 2500mAh if you use the more expensive 'XX' variety. A bit of a contrast to '7200mAh'…

Those AA-cell also tend to have a limited current output.
Another thing that you might like to keep in mind - if you ever actually decide to use the one you purchased…

Safer than buying a dodgily-made lithium powerbank - ion or polymer - and much better and safer if you're inclined to leave your stuff locked in a hot car, but, otherwise, not much chop when it comes to actually recharging things…
      Unfortunately.

    • Hey Coldturkey, thank you, I din't know about this before. I'm getting one of this now instead of portable power bank :-)

      • Sorry that we were typing at the same time.
If you've already bought, you really haven't wasted very much money, and, you know, it might still come in handy sometime…

    • nvm

  • out of stock atm. :(
