HACK: Hungry Jack's/Maccas Frozen Coke Float $1.50/$1.30, Save 50c/$2.95

651

I was in Hungry Jacks yesterday and saw the outrageous price of $2 for a Large Frozen Coke with icecream on top. It got me thinking, how can I make it cheaper?

Step 1: Buy a Large Frozen Coke ($1) and a soft serve cone HJ(50c) MCD (30c)
Step 2: Transfer ice cream from cone to cup, meanwhile drinking a small amount of Frozen Coke
Step 3: SAVE 50c [HJ]/$2.95 [MCD] on one of the most delicious items on the menu!
Available nationwide at hungry jacks and McDonalds
please ignore SA next to Maccas in the image, I thought the Frozens were only $1 in SA

Why are we always seeing these 'bargains' that are really ordinary prices? Maybe we need a special place just for them (such as the forums)

    • The voting system is in place to determine if people have had enough of these or not.

If no one wants to see it, no one will see it. Simple.

  • +2

plus for the effort. atleast this one's original.

  • +5

    Stop with these 'hacks' already.

    • +3

+1 for creating a new section called "Hacking Jacks"

    • I'm guessing the hack part is failing to make the float look like the picture up on the board?

  • +4

OP: your picture paints a thousand words :)

    Frozen Coke Sink:
Step 1: Put Icecream into cup
    Step 2: Pour coke ontop

    • +4

Or just poor coke all over the cone. Would be much funnier!

    • +7

step 1: Put icecream in mouth

Step 2: Pour coke into mouth

Step 2 part 2: Keep pouring

Step 2 Part 3: theres some more left…i dont care about your brainfreeze, keep pouring

Step 3: Look at yourself in the mirror and the mess that you made, whilst clutching your skull because of the brain freeze

Step 4: Go buy a Cheeseburger and ask for angry onions, cheese, a second patty and ketchup for $2

      repeat until diabeetus, end loop

  • +4

plus for the effort involved in making that picture!

Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think there is anymore 30c cones at MiccaDees. When I did this deal the total was $1.50.

      • +7

I think soft serve cones are still 30 cents aren't they? They are still where I live in Qld.

        • Haven't been 50c in SA for many years

        • Yup, 30c at Maccas in WA too, but they are super stingy compared to the HJ ones.

But then again so is everything else at Maccas.

      • +1

        You're right they vary between 30 and 50 c

      • +2

I have never heard McDonalds referred to as MiccaDees in my life.

        • Then where have you been for the last 50 years ?

Well technically it should be 'Mickey Dees' but close enough :)

    • +6

Wouldn't it explode if we mix Hungry Jack stuff with Maccas stuff?

      • +2

No, that's how you make KFC.

    • +1

Aww… this hack isn't going to work for me =(

My closest maccas is about 2km away from my closest Hungry Jacks. My petrol use would be more then the saving i make from this hack.

Walking isn't an option either because which ever i purchase first would melt… Help guys!

      • +3

With the rolling out of Maccas delivery, you could get them to deliver the soft serve at your local Hungry Jacks. Everyone is a winner.

        • +1

lol is it free delivery? Because that would be pretty awesome… free delivery for $0.30 cone XD

  • +1

    nice hack

    • +2

This is a money saving site. 50c may mean a bit to a student or so

      • +18

50 cents a lot of money. u save 50 cents here then u go somewhere else u save another 50 cents that's 1 dollar…then u go to the dollar store and u get something for a dollar…

        • +2

that should be the ozb slogan

        • +3

nah, you go to the dollar shop and get something for 50c, the ozbargain way!

        • +5

That's how Russell Peters taught us all how to shop.

    • +8

Umm, this is OzBARGAIN. 25% off right there.

  • +2

LOL the things that you guys get up to to in your spare time to save half a buck.

  • +7

Technically you also receive (a little) more soft serve too!

A standard soft serve cone is 3 swirls (113g) of soft serve.

But a frozen coke spider only has 2.5 swirls!

    Other notes:

An extra large is never worth the money, get two larges for the same price! (2 x 20oz vs. 1 x 32oz.)

A large frozen coke spider has the same amount of icecream as an extra large, so two large is better than one extra large on that front, too.

    • +1

This is the reason for that PM the other day Scotty!

      • +1

        Glad I could help. :)

You also get extra frozen coke, as we under fill the cup to make room for the icecream so triple bonus!

    • +1

Perhaps an ozbargain special in the making here?

Mention "Ozbargain" at your store and receive 3 swirls instead 2.5!

      • Or they just kick you out for ruining their business.

    • Brilliant! You are an asset to OzB!

  • +1

    Diabetes here I come!!!!

  • -1

Thanks for the hack but I tried the (regular) Frozen Coke Float before and it was absolutely horrible, I don't know why anyone would want to adulterate their Frozen Coke or Soft Serve by mixing the two.

  • Also, $1 frozen cokes are at all maccas as far as i know, it was advertised on their facebook with no store exclusions.

    • Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

  • +2

Good thinking but not a deal

  • -2

tbh anyone can think this up.

its the one where you can get free extras by exploiting something is where a bargain truly shines xD

  • +1

    +1 for the infographic

  • +3

I wanna know why Maccas have McFlurry's at a whopping $4,45, whereas you can pick up a HJ Storm for $2! And I reckon the icecream's better at HJ's too.

  • -2

Hmm with all the hacking going on you might as well include Woolworths or Coles.

    1. Wait till a 1.25L bottle of Coke (or any size for that matter) is on sale.
    2. Buy above mentioned Coke
    3. Buy soft serve ice cream
    4. Request for an empty cup (or ask for free tap water, then empty out the contents (preferably into a nearby shopping centre pot plant or garden bed)
    5. Enjoy cheap spider with plenty of coke to spare!

Bonus points to those who grab the coke from the shelf, shove it behind the ice cream in the freezer section, then come back to it 20 minutes later. Volia - ice cold Coke without paying for the overpriced bottles already in the fridge.

    /sarcasm

    • +1

If you put it in the freezer for ~3.5hrs, you can make instant frozen coke with it! (Google)
