    sssssssssssssssssssslllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

USB 2.0 should be around 48Mbps Write speed… ITS VERY hard to find USB3.0 flash memory sticks that can even come close to 48Mbps write speed that USB 2.0 let alone 480mbps write speeds of USB 3.0

This USB drive would probably be sitting at 5mbps write speed but that has NOTHING to do with the USB 2.0 and more to do with the slow flash ram used inside the memory stick.

Put a 128GB SSD in a USB 2.0, 2.5" HDD SATA enclosure and you will get 48mbps

95% of the USB 3.0 Flash drives on the market wouldn't even come close to the USB2.0 speed of 48mbps write speeds with a PC SSD inside

I have 3 USB3's, they average 80+megabytes/s when copying movies 3gb+ and TV eps 1gb+

        • write speeds? or read! SSD's can write at 250mbps you wont find cheap USB flash drives that can do 80mb write thats for sure!

        • @vid_ghost: An "mb" would be a millibit. Do you mean megabits (Mb) or megabytes (MB)?

        • I will do a test. Generally that's write speed for FAT32. Speeds are much slower for NTFS formatted.

          @Boshait:
You won't see anything that has a bytes per second transfer rate mate. Unless we are talking some alien technologies.

          @ravio4s:
          What?

        • @vid_ghost:

There's cheaps of 'cheap' USB3 sticks that read faster than the max USB2 throughput.

        • MAybe I just read the first number :P

I get 25 and 40megabytes per second averages using a stopwatch, with peaks into 100+.

Using Patriot Boost XT and Patriot OTG Stellar XT? The boost is considerably older though.

        A few things wrong here.

USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps - with overhead this generally maxes out to about 30 MBytes/sec (theoretical maximum is 60 MBytes/sec). However cheap flash is often slow and write speeds can be as low as less than 5-10 MBytes/sec. In that case the USB 2.0 interface is not the bottle neck. Read speeds are often much faster though.

USB 3.0 is 5Gbps (theoretical maximum of 625 MBytes/sec). Typically faster flash is used to take advantage of the faster interface speed.

        • You are right, vid_ghost is wrong. There are plenty of USB3 drives out there that write faster than than the USB 2 theoretical max of 480Mb/s.

          Cheap ones too.

  • Good price for the size of memory, but USB 2.0 is too slow. There is a review:

Very likely a pricing error - but the drives are great if you want to take a bunch of movies with you and watch them on your phone or tablet in the hotel.

I have one and I wouldn't say the speed was much of an issue.

Being USB 2 it might be a genuine clearance. Stopped me from purchasing once I saw the shipping cost too…

  • Sold out !!!

Wow that was a snooze-and-you-lose special.
Great value if it comes through though.

  • Got some for music collections - don't need the speed for that :)

    never mind

  • MSY's Patriot would be a good alternative. It's USB3 and has a nice rubber casing all over.

Shopping Express Pty Ltd has just sent you a full refund of $xx AUD for your purchase.

  • +2

    Refunded. At least we tried…

  • Error.

  • I got a full refund too.
I did not get any email for them to explain the issue..
At lease they should send a email saying that it is a price error / out of stock…
    Bad bad CS service…

  • I just noticed this too, refund in my account and no explanation. was waiting for them to arrive and had held off on buying another that was on sale….

    Crapp….

Very poor form not explaining anything. To me once you accept payment, you have sold the item.
If you cocked it up, thats your problem , not the buyers.

For that alone, never will i buy from them again …
