  • cheers

  • Thanks. The translation says I have 30 days to activate the key. Is that correct (anyone?).

    • yes correct

Love the fact that you can keep topping up these offers ( only to a max of the expiry time) I had 220 days left on a previous offer since the last offer now its up to 270… awesome stuff. Just load in the new code and presto!

    • Do you know if there's a way to merge products/expirations? I've still got over 500 days left on my 2014 version, and just put this key in and it's given me 270 days of 2015 … Would be nice to have my 2014 upgraded??

      • You can't because it's a new key you've added which will list it as a new product. You still get your time remaining on your current product plus your new product, the only difference is that they are listed separately.

  • Nice one OP. It stacked nicely on top of my current 6mths remaining :)

The editor rates it highly but the users don't.

  • I didn't understand a word on the website but Amen.

  • I WILL NOT install it so long as it is not permanently free. There are better alternatives out there e.g. AVAST, AVIRA always FREE.

    • +4

It's FREE and with the amount of times these deals come up it is permanently free!!!

And I will have to respectfully disagree. I have used Avast and it is abysmal in comparison but each to their own.

        +1 Jonesy.

I bought BitDefender 14 - and its performance was so bad that I dumped it pretty quickly and went to Kaspersky. But, when BitDefender 15 came up for free, I installed it on the wife's computer - and unlike 14, it's not a total dog - it runs surprisingly well. It also has some great diagnostic tools that Avast, Avira, etc don't have - so it's definitely a better option than the free alternatives.

I'm not passionate about Bitdefender v/s Kaspersky. If it detects well and doesn't run like a dog, i'll use it. I've still got 18 months of Kaspersky, so i'll say with that for now.

        • Thanks for the info. Running BitD Total Security 13 and don't like some of its behaviour. Will give this a burl, can't be any worse?

      • For Avast I recommend choosing to do a custom install and untick all of the Tools and all of the shields except for File Shield and it is a lot better than a default install.

Bitdefender do have a totally free edition: http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/free.html

You do have to create a Bitdefender account within 30 or so days to 'register' it, but I don't think I've got any spam or anything from them.

For many years I used AVG's free edition, but finally got fed up with its ever-increasing popup ads. I then tried Avast and Avira, but if I recall correctly they too were annoying.

I finally installed Bitdefender's free edition a year or so back and since then it has been completely unobtrusive. It has practically no settings or config, and no "extra" features to bog down your machine. Perfect for people who keep their feet clean and just want a safeguard.

    • As Jonesy respectfully disagreed, I would +1 on his comment in regards to any of the top AV packages and suites, i.e. Bitdefender, Kaperspy etc, being a more solid performer than any of the free solutions. Especially that you can buy from various website a digital download licence for under $20, some as little as $10 for OEM versions.

      Nice find OP.

    • Better? This comes up every time one of these offers appears. Companies spend a lot of $$$ on their tech and chasing virus signatures. Someone, somewhere has to pay.

  • Is this offer available on Mac?

    • Not with this deal, however they do make a Mac anti-virus product.

  • I got this last time and it seemed like a good antivirus until it blocked legit software (Registrator Viewer - Dashcam software). Then when I added the software to the exclusion list it allowed it to run but after 5 minutes the software just randomly closed. I went to run the .exe again and it had been silently deleted. I checked the exclusion list and the software was no longer listed in there.

So it was uninstalled and Antivir (and it's annoying popups) was reinstalled.

    • I had similar experiences as well.

    • +1

You will find most Anti-Virus software have 2 separate exclusion lists. The "realtime protection" exclusion list will be separate to to the on-demand scanning exclusion list. If something is detected as a false positive like that you must be sure to add it to both exclusion lists or it will get deleted by a scheduled scan.

The reason they have 2 lists is so you can exclude certain folders from realtime protection (.e.g. Steam) so that it doesn't slow down while you are running those apps but then the scheduled scan later can still check that area to ensure there is no virus.

      • Thanks for the info. I'll take that into account next time I try a new AV. Luckily Antivir hasn't given me any false positives to have to work around.

  • Great

  • any Germans know how to put this in English?

      1. Pop your email address into the field marked "Bitte geben Sie eine E-Mail-Adresse an"
      2. Below that, enter the code into the field "Code eingeben"
      3. Then click the big green "Lizenzschlüssel erhalten" button.
      • cheers I meant after its installed even if possible, cannot read the options and such :s

        • Have you installed it yet? If not, download the trial from: http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/internet-security.html

If that Bitdefender page is displaying German, there is a language change button at the top-right of the page.
You want to download (try) Bitdefender Internet Security 2015.

And then you have 30 days to activate it with the key from this offer.

Otherwise if it changed your Bitdefender interface to German, let us know.

        • @Thrift: I will uninstall German one and redo it with same code then cheers

  • My system slowed to a crawl after installing. Sticking with malware antibytes + MSE + not going to dodgy websites

    • +1

The way these products work is that after installing they do a pretty intensive scan your computer - not only checking for nasties, but also creating a 'fingerprint' of your files.

This might take 30 mins or so, as the program scans through memory and the harddrives, and it will be pretty resource intensive. Once that's finished, the software can idle along just checking things that change.

The initial full scan might take 30 mins, but each subsequent full scan will only take a minute or two. Also, you should be able to postpone the initial scan until a convenient time.

      • Full scans take 1 hr plus every time on my 2013 B Total Security

If you want the Australian version of the software instead of the german one: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/installer/au/bitdefe…

    • Thanks for the English version….

    • thanks lad

  • Installed easily, cheers bro

  • Has newegg done any deals lately?

  • Does anyone know if this will remove the monkeytize adware?

    • I would give this a try BUT there are better options.

      Malwarebytes (free)

  • Thanks :) who can argue with 9 months free

  • 270 days left wooooooooooooooooooot! I'm pretty sure there will be another similar promotion like this during those 270 days lol

  • I removed it since the last promotion. It is terrible on a laptop - always enabling battery mode. A security program shouldnt mess with non-security related things. Also, the options are buried under so many sub menus - the interface is a real pain. Lots of useful options are missing too.

    My advice: buy(!) something else.

  • Can you use this key to install Antivirus Plus instead (don't want to install any extra firewall components)?

  • Damn, it doesn't stack with my other key with 604 days left :(

  • I must be doing something wrong, it keeps saying verification code incorrect? But I can assure you it is 100% correct. hmm anyone else having issues??

    • Yes, I can't get it to work either. Very frustrating, as I'm setting up a computer for our children, and needed this.

      • Geocoded? Please keep us informed. Dont want to remove my current version and have to reinstall it.

  • Seems to have expired

    • +1

Seems so, I used this link instead which gave 6 months free

  • Anyone get it working with the code?

    • +1

The other day I tried OP's link and was instantly emailed a code.
I logged into my BitDefender account (at my.bitdefender.com), clicked "Add License Key" and popped in the code, and it added a 270 day subscription for "Bitdefender Internet Security 2015".

      • Thank you sir. I'll give it a try.
