  • +6

Low, low blow…. Using Daffodil Day to further your profits. Why not donate all money you receive from the overpriced photos to this great cause instead????

    • -1

You'd better check some photography prices! I can't comment on this! Photographers normally charge min $100-$150 for session only, no photos given!

      • +1

Photographers normally charge min $100-$150 for session only

They can 'ask' for whatever they like, but I doubt anyone here on Ozbargain would pay that…

Can't see why a photographer should charge more than a GP…

        • +1

Photography session is not just the time to take the photos. It also includes the time for editing and also admin stuff. It can be quite time consuming. Photographers charge for their time and their ability to produce a photo that not everyone will be able to do! It requires artistic view, technical ability and equipment. I see no one in oz bargain might want to pay that. Just note that we have a free offer! You just need to donate $10 or more!

      • The name of your business sums it all up. Seagulls are well known for $hitting all over people. Read, and take note of the feedback mate. This is NOT a bargain.

Thanks a lot! I leave the judgement for the visitors!

          @SeagullPhotography:

It's obvious that your original post was unclear, but that has now been fixed up (thank exonerate). That caused a lot of confusion.

As I mentioned below in another post, there is a fine line when using charities to promote business (or vice versa). Cancer is a disease that affects almost everyone in the community, and any suggestion that it's being 'milked' stirs passions - sometimes negatively.

I clicked your facebook link and had a look at your photos, and they look great. Is it worth $80 for a 30 min session and a couple of email images? I would say not, but maybe that's just the going rate these days.

Maybe you could have made a donation from your other work and posted the receipt. I'm sure that would have got you a fair amount of goodwill from OzBargainers.

In the end…I hope you get people taking you up on your offer. Personally, I would like to see as many donations as possible being made to Daffodil Day, and if your offer means people give a donation of $10, that's a very good thing :-)

        • @ticket65:
My original intention to give a discount and also pledge to donate anything I have collected to Cancer council, but I thought there might be more negativity on how people are going to trust that I will really donate that amount! So I decided to encourage people to donate themselves and I would trust them that they have donated!
I know adding terms and conditions makes the offer too complicated and I could leave some of the conditions to be mentioned later. I would rather have everything clear at this point.
I am happy to work 50 Micro sessions for free as long as there are 50 people donating $10 or more each just because of this offer!

  • what the… get outa here

using charity cause to cover up your dodgy shiz is no bargain

    • What is dodgy about it? You donate to charity and get your free gift voucher. All conditions are clear, so no surprises! You get a 1/2 hour session and as a result two high resolution photos. Let us know what we are missing???

      • It might just be me, but I'd look at rewording your offer. I interpreted it as one must purchase a minimum of two photos at the conclusion of the shoot for $40 per photo, not that one gets two photos for free. I thought the $80 saving was for the shoot and your time, not two photos included on top of that.

But I could be in the minority with that interpretation.

        • ^ pretty much what Puff Braddy said.

Maybe I have misinterpreted all the mumbo jumbo, which, let's be honest, isn't 100% clear.

          But when I see:
          -$40 booking fee applies
-Min 2 Photos should be selected
-No prints are included in the package
          -prepaid only - Min $80

          Then… come on, really?

        • @Gazette:
-$40 booking fee will be refunded when you attend the session. Just to make sure you won't miss it just because it was free.
          - Two photos are included in Micro session package. So you will get two high resolution professionally edited photos. You can print them in any size you want, any time you want.
          - Prepaid only Min $80 is in the original definition of Micro Session. You are saving that $80 and getting it for free. The only requirement is to donate $10 or more to Cancer Council.

        • $40 booking fee is just to make sure you will attend your session, and you won't book and forget! It will be refunded.

        • +1

          @SeagullPhotography:

Why should you pay if, as you say, the session is free ?

If they don't turn up, you don't have to do anything…

  • +1

So what exactly are you saving here?

    Where is the $80 value?

  • +3

The only way this post is remotely a deal is with the following interpretation for clarification?
    1. You donate $10 (or more) to Daffodil Day Cancer Council
    2. You sign up on their website via that link
    3. You have to pay $40 booking fee which is refunded to you after you attend the session
    4. Photograph session for 30 minutes max
    5. You have to select 2 prints to purchase at a cost of $40 each
    6. You would claim your '$80 voucher' to pay for the above 2 prints making it free
    Concluding:
    A. What you get is a 30 minute photo session and 2 FREE* prints ? Worth "$80"
    B. You "pay" (donate) $10 minimum to the listed charity.

    • Thanks for rewording. This is exactly what we mean!

    • Well that's more clear…

But then… what does "No prints are included in the package" mean, are there prints included or not?

EDIT: nvm, scroll down, there are no physical prints, just emailed files for you to "print"

  • Maybe I should ditch the landscape stuff and get into studio work if people will pay this much for it

    • yeah.. lol, $100-$150 for a session just for taking happy snaps…

  • Using a charity to try baiting people into using your service.

    $80 gift card

$40 booking fee paid up front before refund

Prepaid $80 which is the two prints.

    So we pay $40 minimum.

    Not even funny.

    • +1

Prepaid $80 which is the two prints.

is it really 'prints' ??? It sounds to me that they just email you the files…

      • High resolution files for the selected photos delivered via email.
      • No prints are included in the package
      • Dammit JV, edited my post but you replied

        I get it now…
        So it's two free prints…

        • So it's two free prints…

          no

          • No prints are included in the package
        • +1

          @jv:

Dammit JV you did it again T__T

So emailed photos… With your watermark slapped onto it right?

Seriously though, how is this even worth $40

        • @jv: It's 1/2 hour session with 2 high resolution files - No prints. You can print in any size, as the files will be in original size.

        • @BanSlavery: The photos will be high resolution professionally edited photos with NO watermark! You will be free to print it any size you want, anytime you want.

Guys, ease up on all the personal attacks on Seagull Photography itself, the (complicatedly written) details of the deal is as explained and confirmed in my comment above.
Prints will be digital files emailed to you, which is more versatile as you can have it on your phone, computer desktop, digital photo-frames for no cost, alternatively it is up to you to go and print it at somewhere like Officeworks/HN/BigW etc yourself for a fair price.
I think there is fair argument that this can be considered a deal, all the negs so far have been due to misinterpretations of the initial wall of text and basically people unhappy with the terms and nickpicking about it.
No one is forcing you to do the deal, but if you go through the effort you end up with 2 free professionally taken and edited (depending on Seagull Photography's skill)digital photos for the cost of a $10 donation to charity.

Thanks exonerate. Neg revoked and definitely a huge misunderstanding purely because of the way the information was communicated. Thanks for clearing this up.

      • +2

TA's validation means a lot ! Thanks TA I tried my best! :D

    • Thanks a lot @exonerate for clearing this up!
People should obviously see if they like the style of Seagull Photography's photos. We have got samples in our website ans also our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SeagullxPhotography

Your photos are high quality. You have to be very careful when you link a charity to business, especially one as important as cancer - something that impacts almost everyone. Hence the reason for most of the negative comments. I believe now that your intentions were good.

        • My friend passed away last year after fighting 2 years with cancer! That's why I am looking to somehow support the efforts done by Cancer Council in Australia. While I can't afford to donate large amount, I can donate my time. I don't mind people judging.

          @SeagullPhotography:
          Hi SeagullPhotography,
I'd just like to say; apologies for how this post was received, you are a great person, undertaking a noble endeavour, I hope you don't let this get you down.
Always stay positive and keep on trying, your friend and many others, including myself, appreciate what you are trying to do.
          All the best - Exonerate

There are days when OzBargainers are, collectively, real (profanity)' douchebags. This is one of those days.
