Sit in the back or second row from back, dead centre or close to centre, trust me.

Sit in the back or second row from back, dead centre or close to centre, trust me.

Did this last time I went. Exactly in the centre [column & row], G30 if my memory serves me correctly. Quite literally the best seat in the house! :P

Just make sure you arrive there early & go in while the lights are still on or else you'll be shuffling through legs in the steepest, tightest corridors in the dark in which one wrong step & you'll go tumbling down the rows crushing everyone below you!

Oh FYI reminder: Subscribe to IMAX newsletter & input your DOB for a free ticket on your Bday. No exclusions, 3D incl.
Hoping they send these out every year instead of a one time thing. Anyone that has joined for over 2yrs confirm that they will send another free ticket on the 2nd year?

      • +3

Yep, saw Guardians of the Galaxy opening weekend with my my free bday ticket, seat J31 (back row center).
Make sure minimal liquids before the film, as you don't want to have to skittle in front of 30 people during the film.
$1.75 booking fee when pre-purchasing your ticket online though!

        • Yeah I pre-booked online in advance too for Captain America 2. $1.75 to reserve the seat for the best viewing angle. Don't expect to rock up & easily get those centre seats.

Zedg, how long have you been registered & was this the 1st free ticket they sent you?

        • I've been registered for a few years now. Have been receiving the free tickets every year but this was the first time i actually used it.

        • +1

          @zedg:

I just made a dummy account & compared the new & old welcome emails & can confirm that in the newer email doesn't state you get a free bday ticket anymore. So it seem they really did discontinue it.

Ppl might have been abusing it as there was a loophole I knew about: you could make multiple fake accs, put any DOB & book online using the voucher+pay $1.75; print out ticket at home, get tkt scanned at entry (they don't check for ID)= cheap IMAX at your hearts desire.

Oh well at least I got something free out of it.

      • +1

Actually, they have now stopped giving Free birthday tickets. Some of my friends who registered in the past 2 months did not get any vouchers. Also they have removed the free birthday ticket ad on their joining imax webpage (although it still asks for birth date)

        • Actually the flash ad was already removed when I joined back in Jan. They just mentioned you will get a 'surprise' on your bday if you add you DOB in the acc. details.

So your friends definitely added DOB in acc. details while logged in?

        • IMAX tickets were/are a birthday freebie highlight…

      • +1

I have my DOB logged and did not receive a b'day ticket this year.

  • If anyone wants to buy more than one , refer a friend and get 10 dollar group on credit as well

    • These are not valid for featured movies (valid only for less than 60 minutes documentaries).

Why would you even write this?

        • +4

deal junkie was pointing out that the Imax tickets available through Cinema Savers are $10.
gsrt22 was pointing out that Cinema Savers tickets are not valid at Imax for feature length films.

  • Got a few for Interstellar!

  • +2

INTERSTELLAR! Don't waste your tickets on any other film. Interstellar will look a million times better than any other film showing at IMAX as it is filmed on IMAX film.

Nolan's vision of space in IMAX will be AMAZING!

Guardians of the Galaxy sessions only showing up until the 27th Aug.

    • Crap damnit, I didn't realise it was only valid from 28th and I bought two vouchers to watch GOTG. Sigh, hopefully something worthwhile comes out before the end of November.

      • INTERSTELLAR!

mfw get told to leave because i'm trying to find a seat.
mfw the employees wont do anything about my seat being taken.
mfw i'm going to buy this $15 ticket to watch Guardians of the galaxy in 3D

Don't let this stop you from experiencing this deal :D

I wasted my free birthday ticket on Godzilla….

      • +1

lol. Least you didn't pay full price!

    • +2

Only have yourself to blame really. Carry a crowbar with you and all will be fine.

Pro Tip for a popular time slot feature length movie: Book ahead, pay the booking fee, select your seats online. Rock up whenever you like (No need to queue for ages just to get a good seat).

  • -2

Not going to neg this deal because you can buy just one ticket. However this is over priced. You can get the tickets for a maximum of $14.70 anytime, anyday, virtually next day delivery guaranteed. Only catch is that there is a minimum of 5. This is direct from the australian movie voucher website. I buy 10 tickets for $14.10 each. Think whirlpool has a link of like 50 different unions/groups that have their own special links.

Also birthday tickets???? I didn't know that, that's awesome. How do you get one?

    • Also birthday tickets???? I didn't know that, that's awesome. How do you get one?

Like I already said above, they prolly very recently discontinued that promo unfortunately. They might bring it back in future? You could still sign up & try your luck?

    • +2

remember these tickets are UNRESTRICTED and can be used anyday for any movie. Despite the AMVs that you need to wait for 10 days after any feature movie release to be able to watch them.
