almost at that $400 barrier! good find OP

  • Double check the Free shipping bit, only applies to the US. But a good indicator that prices are going the direction we'd like.

Skippy, Skippy, Skippy the bush kangaroo

      • I'm standing here correct…freakin awesome. Went through the checkout process and sure enough the price doesn't change once shipping is applied.

  • It is the same price as mine bought 2 months ago in the ebay 15% sale. Definite a good price.

Any deals on the 250 GB model? I don't need 1 TB.

Scorptec's still selling the Sandisk Extreme II 240gb for $129:

If you don't want to wait 2 weeks for postage, and you prefer the idea convenient returns (if needed), same item is at MSY for ~ $30 more:
    http://www.msy.com.au/pc-components/12408-samsung-840bw-evo-…

    • Yeah I just saw that. Probably less hassle for an extra $30.
I've got a 240GB Sandisk at the moment. I'll wait a few more months before getting a 1TB. They can only get cheaper :)

      • Well if our dollar drops they can get a lot more expensive

      • personally the shipping time is a real put-off for me for two reasons:
        1) I'm impatient
        2) with SSDs at the moment - by the time it arrives, the local prices will have dropped below or equal to the lower price that Amazon US offered in the first place ;)

Prefer the 1TB Crucial M550. I believe it is more reliable on account of having better power-failure behaviour. They were ~$440 shipped to Oz, just recently on Amazon, listed on Ozbargain. I think I will wait for the price of those to drop back down.

  • Possibly cheapest if you need one today! I got mine during 15% off ebay purchase last time for $425, 2 months ago.

  • If I buy an SSD like this, how can I mount it as an external drive? I assume there is an enclosure, but not sure about USB 3 or Thunderbolt and not sure at what product that are out there.

I tried searching but it seem Thunderbolt ones a either very expensive or there is a lack of the simple singe drive ones.

    • get one of the dearer (~$30) 2.5" usb 3 enclosures from MSY.

    • Google this… ebay 3.0 2.5 external hard drive enclosure. Heaps there.
Not sure I see the benefits of running an SSD thru a non-sata cable though.

      • Definitely would run faster than a standard HDD and in theory would be a bit more reliable if you're carrying it around a lot.

  • More than my whole desktop built new last year.

  • Straight into my $399 PS4 :)

  • Not bad but Ill pass for better pricing
