  • Can I use this to upgrade my macbook pro mid 2010?

    • +31

Unfortunately, even after installing this SSD, it will still be a Macbook Pro.

    • +3

Yes you can upgrade your MacBook Pro with it, and the increase of performance will be substantial if you currently have a hard drive instead of an SSD.

Thanks. Do you have any advice for RAM upgrade.

        • +2

RAM is expensive at the moment, but the most you can put in a 2010 model is 8GB (2x4GB). The spec is SO-DIMM RAM 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM, but higher clocked versions will work too.

A cheap an easy option is to go to a cheap store (like MSY) and get two identical 4GB Single 1333 MHz SO-DIM DDR3 sticks (1.5v or 1.35v both types work). The cheapest at the moment turns out to be around $86 total.

  • I have 2009 MBP when I install this I only get

    "Link Speed: 1.5 Gigabit"

is this correct? or am I asking 6GB too much?

    • +1

Yep. Pre 2011 Mac only have SATA not SATA3.

  • Pretty good price

I paid $180.00 for my 250 gig last year from MSY

  • Nice deal. Thanks OP. Just ordered one.

  • Dammit I paid $399 at CPL just under a month ago :(

  • Equates to AU$234 with delivery ~ cheapest local is $269

Hesitating due to Amazon selling it for &199USD yesterday….Amazon also had the nerve to cut off international shipping. Seems like they have not done that this time

  • It's showing up as $249 US for me? Has the price risen or is Amazon ripping me off?

My fresh install of win8 onto my EVO 500GB boots in 3 seconds…. No shit!

    • I bought one so looking forward to moving my OS from my 240GB 830 to this drive
