      Mee Tooo :)

Hope the old gold 70% cocoa is also on sale, once i tried that i can never go to normal chocolate.

    • +2

Yes the OLD gold is on sale, at least it was the same as everything else last time they had a sale.

It was $2.40 last time so i stocked up good on those.

70% cocoa solid is essentially good for both eating or cooking.

does healthy food ever go on sale in woolies? eg. half price vege or half price fruit? seriously im sick with all this confectionary half price every single week! give us some decent healthy foods deals already!

    • Coles and woolworths for about 2 years now have their fresh food specials start on Fridays. If you look at the coles or woolies website on Friday mornings there will be a new page of fresh food specials.

      • +1

the friday catalogues are really not that decent. the only thing that caught my attention was the strawberries which were 2 for $3.80 last friday. Generally i dont really buy food and vege from any supermarkets because local fruit and vege market sells products about 50% the price of woolies and coles.

        • coles got 2 for $3 this week for those strawberries

        • +1

They do but hardly anyone posts them. I see iceberg lettuce $1 , tomatoes $2kg, kiwifruit 8 for $2 and loads more. Plus you do get some good fresh specials in catalogue like this week 40% off coles lamb cutlets

    • +12

Yeah they have half price fruit….and nut Cadbury Dairy Milk Block.

      • and fruit loops, , fruit box, fruit tingles and fruit cake

    • +4

You do know you don't have to buy the unhealthy food just because it's on special…don't you?

    • Seriously, I'm sick of people finishing sentences with already.

  • sometimes woolies friday specials does give good discounts though, like the $1 deals i posted before.

  • +1

Good deal but I didn't realise regular selling price for a block of chocolate was now $5??

    • +3

I wouldn't pay $5+ for 220g of choc. They used to be 250g+ for about $4. Prices of groceries are getting too high these days. That's why I only buy items that are on sale or good value for money

      • +3

They used to be 2.50 regular price for a 250 or 300g not so long ago. but hey cocoa is becoming a premium commodity
        .

    • +1

They used to be 250g blocks then they reduced the weight to keep the price the same at about $4. Now they've kept the reduced weight and priced it at >$5. The cocoa price has increased 30% in the last year.

And they went down to 200g but then Cadbury added that 20g back

I remember when Cadbury Dairy Milk was made with Chocolate, not palm oil :(

    • +2

      What palm oil?

      Old Gold
Ingredients: Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Cocoa Butter, Milk Solids, Emulsifiers (Soy Lecithin, 476), Flavour. Allergen Statement: Contains Milk and Soy. May contain traces of Wheat, Egg, Peanuts and Tree Nuts.

      Milk chocolate

Ingredients: Full Cream Milk, Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, Milk Solids, Emulsifiers (Soy Lecithin, 476), Flavours. Milk Chocolate contains Cocoa Solids 26%, Milk Solids 28%.

      • Didn't they get rid of palm oil in 2009?

      • Ill double check, I stopped eating Cadburys back when they started using palm oil, so I have not been reading the 2014 Ingredients list.

    • Its hard to squeeze a glass and a half of milk out out of palm trees but Cadbury scientists claimed they did it.

    • Palm oil was a fleeting thing with Cadbury. They added it, people complained, they removed it.

  • +1

Has the regular price of cadburys been jacked up to $5 now?

    • +1

Just like a lot of products that have doubled in price … it is so they can have half price specials.

  • +1

You're all complaining about the chocolate prices and ingredients, but we all no you're just going to stock up like the rest of us :)

  • +1

The full price is a joke, which is why Cadbury chocolate seems to be ALWAYS on special now

  • +1

Thanks op. Great timing. After having the flu for over a week, completely drained, so need the chocolate, ah….milk, I could really do with an energy fix.

  • +1

Cue the "Cadbury's not as good as [insert chocolate here]" brigade…

    • Not as good as the Worlds Finest Chocolate. The name says it all!

      • +1

        That is cadbury!!

        • What?!?! sobs I've been living a lie…..

        • @rodericb:

Sorry to have burst the bubble…

          Inounu

  • At $2.49 a block, why not ;)

    • -1

      Because you'll get fatter

  • Thanks Trent.

  • great sale - but when did 'Cadbury chocolate' become "worth" $23-30/kg?
normal price is $5 for 200 grams?

has it steadily risen and no-one noticed?

    • +1

I only buy it when it is 50% off (or 2 for 1). Even then I would umm and ahh over it and buy if I didn't have any other sweet stuff at home (I.e. choc bullets from Costco). Now it's more for even smaller blocks I will buy even less.

It just seemed to get very expensive in a short space of time.

  • +1

what happened to breakaways!!! used to love them :)

    • +2

      And Marble

      • Breakaway and marble were my favourites. They really need to make a comeback

  • +1

    Mmmm… Old Gold Wum n Wasin… :-)

  • time to buy 20 blocks of chocolate. I take it to the philippines for presents its expensive there and takes like crap compaired to our cadbury.

For everyone here is a response from Cadbury on Palm oil.

Hi. there is no palm oil in our Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate. There is however a very limited use of palm oil for some fillings in our chocolate range – mostly crèmes, caramels and wafers which cannot be made without a small quantity of palm oil. The limited amount of palm oil we are currently purchasing is covered by GreenPalm certificates and we have plans to source RSPO-fully segregated certified sustainable palm oil to progressively cover all parts of our use of palm oil by 2015. Thanks for your question
