  It looks like a good price for an entry level 5.1 sound system.

  Although lack of network functionality, especially airplay, is definitely putting me off.

  Could some audiophiles evaluate then please? :)

  Would grays be selling this on their behalf? I was looking at just buying this exact receiver refurbed on ebay for $230 shipped http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pioneer-VSX-523-K-5-1-Ch-AV-Recei…. It's tempting to just get the speakers thrown in as the sub is worth $200 easily on its own.

    I agree about the value just from buying the sub. If you are only needing a cheap sub there's one included in the $199 JBL surround speakers at CostCo

  Yeah im considering getting it just for the speakers! I doubt they would be that good, but for a HTIB (home theatre in a box) sort of deal, they wouldn't be horrendous for the price? Considering I would probably sell the amplifier and replace it with something with Airplay
