Vic Toilet Replacement

Despite the fact that the bargain below says expired, I can confirm that I got mine replaced today under the program and got the $100 rebate. Anyway just wanted to share my experience.

Basically you register your interest online, and someone calls you back to book in an appointment. They ask some questions about tap placement and which model you want. I really wanted the top model but with that one the distance between the wall and the toilet has a maximum distance of 180mm and if your drainpipe is too far away from the wall it won't fit. In which case you have to go for the bottom or mid model.

I checked the price of just the toilet alone on Bunnings and these guys are charging roughly the same price, but fully installed. Plus you get $100 rebate on 1 toilet. Also, my existing toilets were dual flush, maybe about 10 years old, and still they didn't ask any questions. The toilets also came with 12 months parts and labour warranty, plus an additional 9 years extended warranty on parts.

Well the guy showed up today (1 hour late as per normal plumber standards) but basically replaced 2 toilets in 90 minutes. Amazing. For me, the footprint of the new toilet was larger than the old one so it covered the hole in the tiling and also the paint gap on the wall, and it looks completely seamless, and no fixing tiling or painting required. He was very neat and professional as well, cleaned up after himself etc. Plus, he has a mobile EFTPOS terminal and accepts credit cards, and leaves a proper invoice, receipt and warranty form.

He says he does on average 7 to 10 toilet replacements a day, and has personally done over 7000 over the past few years. He said the program has been extremely successful / popular over the past 5 or so years it's been running.

Note: I noticed the pricing now is roughly 50-60 more expensive than when the bargain was first posted but oh well. Chalk it up to inflation. Still good value though in my books.
