      Any other cheaper company?

    • Thanks! Never knew about this and now I can get dear, old mum some rebates :)

So, you pay money to use less water, and your bill doesn't drop by more than a few dollars as the water companies charge super high 'Service Fees'.
Actual water usage savings doesn't mean crap for customers except to feel good about doing something for the environment.

By using less water, you are saving the water company money.

If they were serious about trying to get people to cut back on water usage, they would apply a sliding scale of usage fees. i.e use 50% less water than a set amount (i.e Average usage for household), pay 25% less for your 'Service Fee'.

These toilets don't always save any water due to the fact you have to often flush twice . The problem is worse in older homes with clay pipes as you need more water to flush the pipes out .

    • sounds like they're taking the piss out of us with a shitty deal! I'd flush this down the toilet!

    • What a load of bullshit.

The problem is worse in older homes with clay pipes as you need more water to flush the pipes out

You only flush to remove your "stuff" from the bowl. Gravity takes care of moving along the pipes.

You certainly never need to worry about "flushing the pipes out".

  • This is a crap deal.

I wipe my hands of the lot of you.

OK, that's first and second bad pun, so I'll finish with a turd one as well.

  • Rather than throw out perfectly good toilets (and spend the associated with replacing them) the government should just encourage this: http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-Any-Toilet-to-a-Low-Flush-Toi…

Or if they feel the need to spend more of our money just subsidise a local product like these being fitted: http://aquaclicwatersaving.com.au/toilet-stop

The $500+ on each replacement would cover a lot of water flushed with the old toilet!

You can check your toilet water efficiency here: https://apps5a.ris.environment.gov.au/wels-public/search-pro…

Mmmm not quite. Theres a fair bit of design that goes on with toilets to make them water efficient. Not just reducing flush volume, the ball is also smaller, and the way the water is directed is better. A normal toilet using less water means the poo just comes back up when you're not looking.

Course if they were serious, they would be promoting squat toilets. More hygenic, more effective for the user, doesn't put as much stress on the body, and is very efficient water wise. Try selling that to joe public, and they'll close the door as soon as they hear the word squat. 'bout as easy as promoting vegetables to nobility in the medieval period.

      • Thats because the only experience Aussies have had with squat toilets are the filthy public toilets throughout asia . Certainly enough to put me off .

  • Shit hot deal!!!!

  • This is for the forums - particularly as single flush toilets would need to be about 30 years old - and most 30 year old toilets would have packed it in by now.

    • Not true, still have the original toilet in our place built in the 50s and works fine. Unfortunately we missed out on the NSW toilet replacement deal.
