No tyres for you!

Went in to Jax today to buy some tyres that are on sale until tomorrow but was told "they won't be ordered until Monday by which time the sale will have finished sorry".

Needless to say I left dumbfounded that the process is still that manual.

Sounds like a pretty clear-cut case of bait advertising, to me. You could follow up with your state consumer affairs department if you are unhappy enough.

    go to another jax

some i found are worthless, some great

    • This one is a couple hundred metres away and they're normally pretty good, the next nearest is a 1 hour drive.

The excuse was they didn't want to wear any price rise.

In the circumstance (your circumstance of being disappointed by them), if they were half-decent operators and genuinely business-savvy, they would have offered you a raincheck, regardless of other factors.

Word-of-mouth, positive or negative, is powerful stuff.

    No tyres for you!

The right thing to do next is fortuitously stumble across the cost-price and source info of all their tyres in a second hand armoire, then walk back into Jax with papers in hand to expose their 'secrets' - ie. the tantalisingly cheap prices at which they buy their tyres, and of course, where customers can directly cook purchase the same soup tyres for the same price, thereby making Jax a redundant step in the soup tyre-acquiring process.

Jax will then be forced to pack up business and move back to Argentina. Hopefully giving away any remaining soup tyres in stock for free to anyone with a big enough pot trailer.

If there is a clinic in Argentina - or anywhere - that specialises in treating, proper, clinical, Seinfeld-addicts (turnip, sweetheart, the first step is to acknowledge a problem), I will pay for you to attend.

In the meantime, avoid all thoughts of soup, and tyres.

        Fairly certain I'm beyond help…

        • I solemnly and poignantly observe the near-heartbreaking resignation, in that there comment of yours above, but I shall forge ahead with mine…

Turnip, I appreciate that I have set you a difficult initial task, being as you are a basic soup-ingredient, but of all the non-GST-attracting fresh food ingredients that I exchange comments with on OzBargain, you are my favourite.

I believe in you. You are strong, and you WILL succeed.

Your Seinfeld addiction is clearly going to be a challenge for you. The OP may even have a problem, but combined with the fact that he is driving on bald tyres, I consider him to be doomed.

As for you, dancing until you develop arthritis in your thumbs and are unable to properly tighten the girth on your chosen li'l rat-steed's saddle, is unacceptable - and dangerous.

I know that you are dysfunctionally Seinfeld-addicted, and also currently overwhelmed by those rabbit fur tumbleweeds, spoken of yesterday.
Both of those things will be addressed, moving forward.

Continue to refrain from any thoughts about soup, or tyres. You can do it - also be kind to those thumbs by refraining from any further Elaine-dancing. You can do that, too.

          Have you considered Zumba, instead?
May well just be the therapy needed, for a wayward turnip.
(Also, South American, but cheaper for me - relative to flying you to a frickin' clinic in frickin' Argentina.)

          Let the healing begin.

  • And then this arvo Target couldn't sell me 2 itunes cards as they've reached their 'daily limit' ??

Can't even give my money away.

    • they have daily limit?

  • It doesn't pay to wait. You should have jumped all over this deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147723)

Obviously the store doesn't have your size in stock, and there is no time left for them to get them in before the sales ends.

I agree with Tony. I rang Merrylands jax the day before to ensure they had the tyres I wanted and could fit me in for a fitting. I even left work early, got there and the couple of guys go, "<name>? Oh we were just talking about you, we accidentally sold your tyres earlier and we did not realise it until 5 minutes ago." I was PISSED. I even called the day before and they were like yes yes, everything is in order. They couldn't and didn't seem to care to do anything. They just wanted a sale then and there and since the lady got in before me she got them.
I went to Castle Hill because I seem to live in a hole that's in between everything. They were much better and even called me back.

  • The price only went up $15 each so with that in mind I'll save my money for other ozbargains. No harm no foul.
But even at $260 the Michelin PS3 seem to be worthy of a try when the time comes to need them as much as I do love the Yoko C Drive.

And yes baysew, 'now' is always the right and wrong time to buy lol
