Probably because they know how long it takes for the screen protector to arrive and they don't want to risk using the phone without it.
I see the value in screen protectors. They are good for resale as people can see you have looked after the device well. With the extremely high price of the iPhones, the extra layer of protection is always good. I use an anti-glare one on my ipad and it blocks the glare and keeps the screen in day one condition. Just my two cents :)
I understand the use of the screen protectors. My question was more towards the accuracy of dimensions that anyone would have considering apple always keeps surprises up their sleeve. What if the phone is not 4.7" as per the rumor??
It's pretty much confirmed to be 4.7 inches for the main variant.
Even spigen has designed cases for them.
Didn't you see the news? The Chinese Telcos already started advertising the phones with Pics. They probably already know the specs…
