60cm Ceramic Electric Cooktop Was $399, Now $99 @ Ikea Rhodes NSW

580

Went to Ikea Rhodes to get those cheap wooden hangers on sale but they were all gone by the time I got there (late afternoon). However when I was browsing in the kitchen department I found the electric ceramic ELDIG HGC4K is reduced from $399 to $99. I believe it's now discontinued as it's no longer on their website but you can still find information on the cooktop in their 2014 Appliances Guide at this link (p.16): http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_AU/media/pdf/buying_guides_2014/ki…

It comes with a 5-year warranty. Bought one as a back-up for the one in my rental property and just checked the box it's made in Italy not China. Not sure if it's only for IKEA Rhodes but other IKEA stores might also have them on special if it's going to be a discontinued model.

Update: Price at Springvale & Richmond is $399.

    Any idea on stock levels?

    • +1

Not too sure on stock levels as it's no longer on their website and I couldn't see how many are left on the shelf as it's not a self serve item. It was brought out by their staff from their main warehouse.

    now you're cooking!

but seriously, that's an awesome price.

  • Its a Whirlpool, So you know its not a cheapo crappy brand.

    • +1

Whirlpool is an entry level "name" brand. Not too many retail stores stock it anymore, including TGG.

  • Anyone get one from another location. I got the gas version of this many years ago for $80 on a similar clearance.

Be aware that if you don't already have an induction cooktop if you are wishing to upgrade from a standard electric type your circuit will MAY need to be upgraded. Many of these require 6mm2 cable with 32amp breakers which will require some licensed electrical work.

    • +2

This is just a ceramic. Not induction. Any changeover really is required to be done by an electrician.

  • 2x1700w + 2x1200w so 5800w so about 24 amps.

    • all good as a standard cooktop will have most probably a 32Amp circuit breaker

      • maybe but most i see in older houses are on a 20 amp circuit and often oven/cooktop combos are on 32

        not actually illegal though

    Just called IKEA.

14 in stock in Richmond but the price for Richmond & Springvale is $399. Looks like this price is only at Rhodes, NSW.

8 digit number for this cooktop is 80238913 via this old link

    • Thanks for checking.

  • infinite heat settings - I like the sound of that.

  • These are great units. I have put them in rental properties and they come with 5 years warranty :)

Made in Italy - that probably makes it worse

  • No stock or deal at Logan IKEA. Though they have the induction model reduced from 699 to 449 which is a great price for induction.

Update: Ikea rhodes had them for 99 as listed but overnight price went back to 399, i got there and showed them this to which they reinstated the 99 price again as they wanted to get rid of them.
so i picked up 3! they have 5 in total so 2 are still available but might not be for long as i heard pple queuing up asking about it.

  • Rhodes store sold out.

probably OP can change the title to "expired".

  • No more stock at Rhodes. Had to settle for the induction hob with touch contriols on sale $299 from $699 original price.

    • +2

That sucks, coz b00tyman bought 3…greedy

  • The induction hobs are a steal for $299. There are great at $449 but I don't have enough space between my oven and cook top for the etectronics not to melt!

Really for a bricks and mortar retailer to be selling induction at this price its magic. Even the eBay euro maid ones are $349.
