To keep an eye on the milkman?

Edit: to keep an ear on the milkman

    • Ha ha yeah, one of the reviews on Amazon mentioned that they monitor it from work!

  • Forget it, this will be out of stock before you click the purchase button.

I know it might be a failed product but it would be perfect as a gift…

"Merry Christmas, have this product that I wouldn't buy myself due to bad reviews and may not work!"

      Are you my auntie?

  • This was also listed last week, but pulled pretty quickly as a mistake by DSE!

  • I bought one of these for some friends as part of their baby shower gifts. I'm told that it's unusable without the purchase of a 3rd party app that Belkin finally gave up trying to kill. I got the impression the app was about $8. After that it's apparently fine.

  • Got just one. if its crap, I'll return it.

Good luck returning to Dick Smith!

      • Why ? they took back my dodgy Blaupunkt soundbar, although it took 15 minutes in store, plus 15 minutes driving to the next store after their web-advertised opening hours were wrong for the first store I went to.

Gotta love tricky dicky - cheap imported crap that largely doesn't work. I've only bought form them maybe 6 times in the last 3 years, all but one transaction has involved a level of pain, either painfully slow delivery or products simply not working, or both.

Even the PDF has an error message (overview section)

    • it's all quality over at Belkin then, hey ?

A monitor with out visual is not a monitor to me :(

    • +3

What, you can't 'monitor' something aurally?

      • Of course you can, but a baby sometimes makes sounds while wiggling (eg feeling hot so kicked off the blanket). If you have only a sound based monitoring device, it means you'll be up checking unnecessarily. With video, at least you can see that bub has gone back to sleep and its no concern. I'd rather put in a few extra bucks for that functionality and in future use it as a video surveillance device than buy something like this with limited future use.

      It's not even full HD…

      • Tim Worner & Gillon McLachlan think SD is perfectly fine.

  • I'm about to purchase but with several 1-2 star reviews from Amazon, and youtube (security and connection issues). I would just avoid it.

    • Get the Uniden Baby Monitor kit, I just recently set it up in preparation and it works brilliantly. http://goo.gl/2wSrwH

      • WOW that one pricey piece of tech! … lol is that the premium u gotta pay for a working product? hehehe

      • +2

"Set it up in preparation". For what - conceiving? LOL. Although with the two cameras you can switch between them, which would make it look more like a professionally made movie!

Just give your baby a gun for protection, it's the American way!

I just read a review and think it's a potential risk.

    1. your ipad or iphone (maybe android too) has to be constantly on the app. if the app turns off, then you wont be monitoring. which also mean your phone or ipad has to be constantly on power plug.

    2. because it uses wifi, so you can actually hear the sound even if you are oversea. it's good and bad. bad because some hackers can potentially hack into it to hear the sounds in the room. or your neighbour who might have shared your wifi could hear it if they want to.

Hahahahah I LOVE this reviewer's respond to Belkin!

If possible we would like to speak with you more about what you have experienced and what you think could make it better. Please write us at [email protected] if you would be interested in talking more about it.

    Best Regards,

I'm not going to waste my time on this product any further, and I suggest you don't either. Pull it from the shelves! If you want to take up any more of my time with this piece of junk, it's going to be as a paid engineering consultant.

  • Good in theory but even at $20 it's not worth it given the reviews and lack of peace of mind (did the app crash, will it work when I need it, why do I need to pay extra for cry history- shouldn't this be included, etc).

Would be better off buying a cheap wifi IP camera with a reasonably easy to use iPhone app e.g. D-Link DCS-930L which can be had for under $40 and has video/audio, (and various other useful features).

The only feature which the basic cameras wouldn't have is audio triggering of emails/etc. From memory the 930L has motion detection and can email photos/videos, but it isn't as advanced as say the D-Link Baby Camera (which is closer to $200 RRP; although it was with cashback and on sale earlier this year on OzBargain for close to the $80 mark from memory).

    • Yep, got a 931L for free by redemption with the purchase of the DSL2890 router earlier this year!

    • better off buying a cheap wifi IP camera with a reasonably easy to use iPhone app e.g. D-Link DCS-930L

"As a mydlink-enabled device, anyone can access the DCS-930L anytime, anywhere you they Internet access. Get some fun by keeping an eye on their kids, pets, bedroom activies or fights from almost anywhere by simply logging on to the mydlink website and selecting the camera. Since the DCS-930L comes with a built-in microphone, you can see and hear for yourself."
