Purchase 2 Continental Tyres (Min $190) and Get Access to ContiRewards App (Free Pizzas + More)

700

TLDR

  • Purchase 2 conti tyres and get access to conti rewards app which includes:
  • 1 free dominos pizza per day, 2 for 1 movie vouchers as well as 2 for 1 other random crap for 12 months. It appears that Domino's is no longer offering the pizza.

When I purchased Continental tyres for my car a couple of weeks ago I was given access to the conti rewards app but didn't think much of it. When I downloaded the app and used the voucher for a pizza I thought that would be the end of the free pizza. After midnight I checked the app again and there it was, sitting there, waiting to be touched, another voucher. And yes, the same came the next night, and the next, and the next, and so forth. After checking the T's and C's I found that I would be entitled to a free pizza every single day for the entire year! 12 pizza filled months! So depending on how much you like gross takeaway I hope some can find some value in this deal. There are also other smaller 'deals' to be found within the app; 2 for 1 movie vouchers, 2 for 1 muffin break coffees, 2 for 1 yoga passes and other random crap.

Continental Tyres can be purchased from a few places my minimum cost estimate comes from the cheapest tyres from JAX.
http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au//great-deals/continental-every…

Also worth noting is that if you don't redeem a free pizza on one day you can still grab the code and save it for a day where you may want two pizzas, or 3, or 4, or more, or you could share a voucher, or sell them for profit. Don't do that. They may take our free pizza away.

The link here supports it being one pizza per day. Also, this : 4. Conti Rewards allows customers access to repeat use of rewards for 12 consecutive months from date of activation subject to promotional period.

Ha ha. It's almost like some sort of 'super size me' experiment.

  • Seems like a good deal.

  • I was just told I need to buy new tyres "soon" by the mechanic. Where do the free pizzas come from?

From the T&Cs- Domino's. The 2for1 movies are from Event Cinemas/Village Cinemas.

      Continental Pizza Factory…

  • +2

Far out, that's actually a really good deal!

  • What's the process of actually getting a code?
It looks like you get it from the tyre shop when you purchase them.

I don't actually need new tyres. But they will last in the shed by the time I need them.

Hmm actually, I will probably buy a new car before I need them …

    • dad has contisport contact 3, year of manufacture, 2003. They will last

He did use another set for a while, hence why he still has the OEM tyres/wheels

My tyres have heaps of tread……. off to do some burnouts!!!

A true tight-ass would realise you don't need to have bald tyres to purchase new ones.

      From their T&C -

      1. For dominos pizza - This reward entitles you to pick up 1 x Free Large Traditional, Value or Chef’s Best pizza from one of the
participating Dominos Pizza venues listed on the promotional website. You must order in advance by using your Free Dominos Pizza

  • +6

There's gotta be an error in their system regarding the daily free pizza, I wouldn't be surprised if the hole gets plugged once they start getting some attention to this offer.

  • Can't find anything in the T&Cs saying that you get one voucher per day every day.

  • Pretty good of the OP to post what will most likely turn out to be a glitch and will now be fixed, thus rendering his unlimited pizza supply… limited!

  • You had me at free pizza!

I comend the OP's generousity in sharing this deal.

    No code though.. :(

    • I got 2 conti's put on last week from bob janes, any ideas on if I can get in in this?

      • OP says he got given access to the app, maybe u can get access too. not sure how.

        • @yacman & @cloudy - Not sure. You can get the app from the store but need a code (i think) to activate it? I have emailed Continental ([email protected]) to see if I'm eligible if I send a copy of my work order /receipt..

        • @Draxxx: keep us posted on what their response is please :)

        • +1

          @yacman:
Got an email back. I have to send them a copy of the receipt, and they will (snail) mail me a code. So looks like if you can prove purchase you can get a code directly from Continental.

    • No, there's heaps of Conti dealers around supporting it. In my area alone there's the BJ, Jax, Tyrepower and an independent dealer!

    • No it looks like it's from all Conti Dealers going from that Website. You probably have to contact your dealer to ask for the code, and if they don't have it, get them to contact Conti Australia to get your code.

    • Ring them up and ask for the code, just say you forgot to ask when you were in store

Event Cinema deal all over again.

    • Exactly, except event cinema deal we could all quickly find a few movies to see and book it in. This one requires a little more work with finding the tyres etc.

    There are:

2 for one movie ticket at a range of cinemas.

Over a dozen VIP entry to Ministry of Paintball

Numerous 2 for 1 surf school coaching and stand up paddling sessions

Over 30 2 for 1 yoga sessions, free martial arts lesson for kids, soccer sessions

2 for 1 album voucher for InSong Website

I don't know if the vouchers are location based as 95% of my vouchers are for use at places hundreds of kilometres away.

  • +2

Terms and conditions mention 1x pizza without mentioning per day. Sounds like it's a bug in the app. They also have the typical 'save their ass' clause: "26. Continental Tyres or TLC reserve the right to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the reward program, or individual reward offers, as appropriate."

Nice find OP but I'm scared they might just gonna come back and cancel the promotion completely.

  • I do not need more spare tyres, especially around my waist … but a bargain is a bargain!

Great deal, but as other has said there is a very good chance they will amend this due to abuse,

I can see the redpawpaw box thing happening all over again. If you are going to buy the tyres anyway then its a bonus, but don't buy it expecting them to maintain it and then come here complaining when they change it.

Domino was removed from the reward list. Just phone their 1800 number and confirmed. Domio pizza is the only reason I purchased the conti tyres.
    NOT happy.

    • -2

Well can I honestly say that is going close to the stupidest thing I have ever heard!
So you bought a set of tyres, which is the primary safety feature of your car keeping you, your family, and potentially other families safe, for a pizza?
Even worse is the fact that it's only a cheap $5 pizza. I guess it's just lucky for other road users that it's actually a premium tyre!

      • Err actually you were able to order their top range gourmet pizzas.
I got the Duck and Bacon.. and it was the best moment of my day.
        :)

As for 'lucky for other road users it's a premium tyre'
I assume Australian Standards would disallow truly dangerous tyres to be sold.

        regarding:
"Well can I honestly say that is going close to the stupidest thing I have ever heard!"
Can I honestly say that is going close to you being a prick?

        • +1

I assume Australian Standards would disallow truly dangerous tyres to be sold.

Is that so? Do they also not allow faulty TVs and stereos into the country?

I've worked in the industry for far too long and am sick of hearing people walking into retailers and asking for the cheapest tyre available for their 50k-100k+ car! Meanwhile they're wearing $200+ shoes on their own feet!
$70 tyres on standard cars producing in excess of 150kw nowadays, yeah great combination!

You and I have to share the same roads with these people! And if it makes me look like a prick trying to educate people and save a life… I'm happy to be it!

        • I said 'truly dangerous' not 'faulty' and I was referring to tyres, not TVs.
Please do not build a straw man if you wish to have a dialectic with me.

My position is that these tyres pass strict well governed standards that are reviewed each year (http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Search/passenger%20car%20tyres).
If anything, they perhaps need replacing more often.
If 'these people' can afford $200 shoes it's probably no issue.

Please provide recent evidence that cheaper tyres are known to cause a greater number of fatalities/accidents when being driven/used legally. Or, perhaps you only hold weak, anecdotal, biased evidence that comes with being 'in the industry'.

        • @Stitchy:

Please provide recent evidence that cheaper tyres are known to cause a greater number of fatalities/accidents when being driven/used legally. Or, perhaps you only hold weak, anecdotal, biased evidence that comes with being 'in the industry'.

Can I honestly say that is going close to you being a prick?

Seriously Stitchy, I've driven many cars with many tyre combinations and any half-arsed driver can tell the difference between a good tyre and bad tyre. Notice I don't say cheap, I say bad tyre. There are plenty of bad tyres imported into Australia - for a start plenty have lost their grip on me in the wet at legal speeds much earlier and without warning than other tyres. Without needing a government sanctioned test anybody who has ever been in a position like that can work out that is more dangerous.

And in Snoop's defense, he has contributed volumes of valid information on tyres in this forum in the past, I don't think he feels like repeating it all for every doubter that comes along.

        • Can I honestly say your slight lacks any originality? :p

          I am simply requesting evidence.
He doesn't have to provide it.

But then, he should also refrain from being the prick he confesses to be.
Perhaps his information is based on all the flashy brochures he must be inflicted with each day.

I hold my position that, even if some tyres don't handle wet as well, it isn't a huge enough issue to openly be a prick and call people stupid, and that if there were many accidents due to 'bad tyres' then the coroner, or whoever, would notice and swiftly advise that our nanny-state safety standards need to be updated.

        • Thank you, I'm happy to cop the prick comment as I did come off quite strong in my comment, but if tooblue had said that it was the deciding reason they chose to go Conti over a similarly priced or similar quality tyre, I could understand. But to say that it was the ONLY reason is… as above^!

As for your retort, you are correct… assuming that you're happy to drive on tyres that are just reasonably dangerous and not TRULY dangerous! The fact is, the testing done on tyres to receive a DOT code does not even remotely simulate real road use conditions. I also think that people on here would be well aware of my intention in using the word 'cheap' when describing these poorer quality, lesser known branded tyres as one is 'usually' synonymous with the other!

I can't believe I've bothered to go into it thus far, but as for the documentation you require, I don't have it. What I do have is 23 years of experience; from Retail to Import and Wholesale; from Tyre Fitter to Operations Manager; from driving a car daily to performance testing for particular brands. I don't pertain to know it all, but I do know when someone has 'Pulled a Homer'!

        • +1

I feel our positions have been suitably described, and I understand now why perhaps you did react a bit strong.

          Thank you for your response.

I refrained from bringing this up during the 'argument' because it's anecdotal but I am a amputee due to a sudden blowout at 100km/h of a 1 year old premium goodyear tyre (that was properly inflated). I was a passenger, family outing situation, early 90s.

Perhaps this is a reason why I am a bit skeptical about tyre marketing.

I think we can all agree that it will be brilliant once we have automated driving. Indeed I think I recall a statistic that 80%(?) of accidents are some sort of driver fault/intoxication etc.. not to mention the computer could react to sudden obstacles/blowouts etc quicker. We'll all be a lot safer. Well, that's until the machines gain self awareness and destroy us.

        • @Stitchy:
Firstly, sorry to hear about the accident. I completely agree with you about tyre marketing (and a lot of marketing in general), which is why I tell people to seek the advice of someone they trust and others who may have had similar experiences. Luckily my first employment in the industry was with a very reputable to the area, family owned and run, well known retailer. So I had a good hard working, honest platform to build from!

Back to the marketing… As I said, I agree, and there are certainly some brands that market themselves as well above the actual quality of the product. But the old adage "You get what you pay for" is in the general sense, reasonably true! Personally I still believe (for passenger tyres) that Pirelli, Conti & Michelin produce the world's best, BUT… that's the Euro manafactured ones! I also rate the Jap made Bridgestone, Yoki & Toyo quite high and the Korean Hankook & Kumho is a decent tyre at a reasonable price.
I've never been a fan of the Aus made tyres. Not that they're a bad tyre, I just feel they were always overpriced for what they were! As for the Chinese stuff… Well… There are some half decent reasonably priced brands out there, but it would depend on the fitment and your requirements as to whether I could ever recommend them! The problem with the Chinese stuff is that there are so many ordinary (understatement) tyres produced under a wide variety of names being bought in by some very unscrupulous wholesalers/retailers!
Note, there are a few better known manufacturers now producing out of China too. Not that there's anything wrong with these tyres, but from experience I can't say that I'd rate these premium brands any higher than say the Jap or probably even the Korean brands!

I probaby come off strong as I like to be, at least partly, educated in anything I purchase and try help to educate the community on anyhting I may have a little knowledge on… Especially when it comes to something that I feel to be as important as the safety of tyres!

      • +2

Snoop, thanks for taking my vent so seriously. Of couse saying "only reason" is exaggerating.

I know tyres are the only thing that keep me on the ground and certainly wouldn't compromise the safety for tyres that are 10 or 20 bucks cheaper. I am just saying without the pizza offer I would take time to look at others brands within the same range.

The pizza is like a bait, once you are in the trap they take it away. It is the feeling that hurt, not actually a $5 or $10 pizza.

Continental Adelaide have on their fb page (and if not, I screen captured):

"With purchase of two or more continental tyres you will receive the following voucher giving you daily rewards like a large domino's pizza everyday for a year FOR FREE! as well as movie pass and music downloads 2 for 1 ! this offer ends 30th of September 2014. So come and grab yours today!"

I think if you wanted to, you could make a formal complaint to the office of fair trading to seek some remedy to your unhappiness.. especially if you made a decision based on that post.

      • Thanks stitchy.

Domino was in their original t and c weeks ago. They just recently pulled domino off the updated t and c and claim they have the right to change it any time they like. Not sure if there is a case coz they obviously have themselves covered.

        • If you saw it in the original t&c, you could state that to the office of fair trading.
They would investigate whether they can find that evidence, and if there is a case.

They would certainly frown upon Continental Adelaide even today having 'daily rewards like a large domino's pizza everyday for a year FOR FREE!' on their facebook page.

But I am not the unhappy one, the decision whether to contact them is yours alone.

          have a great night
