    Facebook to login?
Unable to access Terms & Conditions or Privacy policy, links do nothing.
    No Company Info, no ABN.
    No Payment or delivery details.

    Just a bit suss eh?

    • Hi DavoX,

Unfortunately for now, the only way to login is by using facebook, and also before bidding, you are required to put your mobile number in order to verify that you are a genuine user.

And also we are sorry for company info, ABN, and the unusable links issues, I will let the IT team know about this.

For payment, we are planning to integrate our platform with Paypal in the future, but for now, our platform will connect the buyers to the sellers and they would need to settle the payment and delivery by themselves.

      Thanks for the feedback! :)

fact you have to log in with facebook = huge turn off.

        • +3

It's also worth mentioning that anyone with a bit of know how can find the Facebook profiles of every single person bidding on the items in the OP. I'm not sure how it works when you actually sign up to snapcock (i.e. can everyone see everyone's full names and Facebook profiles?), but I'm certainly not comfortable having my identity and bidding history available for all to see.

        • i like logging in with facebook, saves me entering all the same crap over and over!

        • noted. thanks :)

        • @porkandbeans:

Hi there, the answer for your question is no. People can only see your first name and profile picture, that's it. No other information such as full name, birthday, phone number, address, etc is visible to the others to see. Thanks! :)

          @Ch Rs:

I agree with porkandbeans. Ex-googlers should know better. Hint: Facebook graph API + thumbnails.

  • Disregard previous.

    I hate facebook.

But I would love to see some competition for feebay. Monopolies are never good unless they're under government charter to provide a commodity at cost.

Oztion provides a case study. I recall how Oztion was a failure. They ended up being a place where people on govo benefits would list beeds for 5 cents because the fees were low. But buyers just weren't interested in bidding on coloured beeds from bluddgers.

But they relaunched with a new name specialising in car sales and have had some success. I reckon the lesson is try to specialise in one or maybe several things so that you can build economies of scale and product range in something. You can always add new categories later.

    • Noted. Thanks for the feedback and advise. :)

Facebook log-in is a huge turn off.
    Especially since I don't have Facebook :(

    • will surely bring this issue to the board! thanks!

  • yep sounded interesting till i needed friendface to login, wont be using it unless that changes

also like the idea of something that isnt the hellhole ebay is so i think it would be well in your favour to open up the signups better.

    • noted. thanks!

You still haven't fixed the issue regarding identifying people that I posted above. You haven't even acknowledged it as a problem. So maybe this will help you understand better:

      Recent GoPro Auction
      The First Few Bidders

But there's no way you can identity any of the bidders, right?

I also find the number of likes on the snapcock facebook page questionable. 6,000 likes predominately from New Delhi. Funny considering the motto is "Social. Local. Fast." But I'm sure you guys didn't pay for those, now did you?

The whole thing is amateurish and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Hi, thanks for the feedback again. I have reported this issue to the IT team. But unfortunately, that is how it is for the moment. In other words, the company wants to run the website that way. And I couldn't do anything about that because I am more on the sales team. I apologise for this. But there might be some changes in the future as we are still improving our services (we do know we have a lot of things to improve on).

Regarding the FB likes, we certainly didn't buy them. They probably come from the friends of the founders (homeland), so it might bring a great impact to the likes trend. But in spite of that, our main goal is to provide an easier way for the local people in Australia to sell their items in auction-style sales.

        Cheers!

          erm

6,000 likes predominately from New Delhi.

yea, sounds like bullshit. the only thing worse than buying this sort of crap is lying about doing it….. it just makes your little enterprise seem even more dodgy….

@nosdan: You can buy Facebook likes by the 1000 in India, no worries at all/

        • If we were to buy FB likes, why would we choose likes from India as it's not even our targeted market. But everyone may point out their opinions, so no worries at all.

        • +1

@Ch Rs: Perhaps you have a better explanation of why they are all from India then?
Snapknock is all about super local right?
Thousands of Indians spontaneously and without any promoting loved the idea of this local Aussie web site.
"I say Mr Bull, have you met Mr Sh1t?"

I recently joined Snapknock and made my first purchase and was quite happy and feeling positive about where the site could possibly go as an alternative to eBay.

However after reading this link (http://www.canberraentrepreneur.com/entrepreneurs/startups/s…) it has become apparent who is part of the Snapknock team.
So in regards to the photo that porkandbeans put up about the recent GoPro auction it makes me wonder how ethical is it for people on the team to list items to sell on the site and then have other members of the same team bid on the item.
Makes me feel like they are trying to raise the price up or something.

Feeling just a tad suspicious now after looking at a few more auctions that ended recently.

Just wondering now also after reading about the competition being offered if team members of Snapknock who advertise on the site will also count towards the competition.

Glad you are happy with your purchase and positive experience! :)

Actually yes, everyone could actually bid anything on the site. Even for this competition, I am eligible to join in if I would like to (except the founders though because they are the one who hold this competition). But there's no intention from us at all to raise the price up as all of us want a genuine sale on Snapknock as well. Cheers.

heres a page for you to look into https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conflict_of_interest

        • keep in mind that our page is still in its early stage and not as strict as ebay or other auctions website. it's social and fun. I am pretty sure you could not point out a single sale that we intentionally raised the price up.

          @Ch Rs:
Credibility= over due to shill bidding and other issues. Your concept is going down the dunny where it belongs.
Start again in India? Its apparently very popular there.
          Off you go…

This is Australia, we are Australians, we are not stupid, go away

  • Anyone else having problem with the facebook prompt opening in the background but not actually showing up? Thought i'd see what it's like but facebook integration for it is bugging me…

    • The FB login page should open in new window.

  • +1

    Will never use this.
Hate Facebook and only use it for Ozbaragins stuff, cant relate to Tinder as I have never use that either (its a rooting app right?) and looks dodgy IE they are using shill bidding. F that.
Dont trust it, will never use it.
