SEAGATE EXPANSION 5TB External USB 3.0 (STBV5000100)

Not bad for 5TB. Almost bang on the magical $0.04/GB mark.

Due to a slightly weaker $AUD we haven't been able to get under $200 yet. Amazon conversion puts it at $215, but buying in $USD and doing local conversion should be closer to $210 and maybe $205ea if buying 4. Please share your results.

I did post a near identical deal back in August, so if you feel this is a dupe go and report it, I thought it was reasonable to post a new one.

  • When are the 8TB and 10TB drives coming out?

    • 8TB's (and maybe 10s) are already in Enterprise trials, so they are out there, just not available to Joe Average yet.

The quicker they come, the quicker the bottom falls out of the 4TB market which I'm still pretty happy with for NAS usage. As nice as it would be to fill a NAS with 6,8 or 10TB drives, I couldn't fill that sort of capacity for years to come.

  • AUD $215.63 posted when I checked just now.

    • +1

Hmmm same here, I thought mine was higher due to living in the country. I'll call it $210 because the norm would be to pay in $USD and do the conversion locally (Amazon conversion is very generous… to Amazon)

  • What's the difference from the Seagate Expansion vs Seagate Backup Plus?

  • Funny every time I see these deals no matter the size people say that when/if it was the next size up they would get it

  • You've got the casual shopper and you've got the serious ones. I've bought a TON of 4TBs when they went on sale. But these are bursting at the seams now. Its funny how someone said they can't fill a 4TB drive for years. I can fill that in a heartbeat lol. 4TBs just doesn't do it for me anymore. With the amount of videos I'm shooting I can't wait for the 10TBs to be made available..

    • yes, i have a 5tb for all my personal videos and another 5tb for all my personal photo's, acting as my offline backups for my data that sites actively on my nas.

after u go back far enuff and have to scan in analog data, file sizes grow crazy….
