What would make you buy a PS4?

not sure how drive club or the crew will pan out

otherwise no GT7 until way past 2016 so not sure about this one

sure its the best h/w but they are slow on updates

will get both but it looks like the competition are winning the s/w war

also i think the price will remain high due to the high global demand

its already past 10 mil. in people's homes so i assume the xbox will get to $350 then $299 before sony

also sony just lost $2 bn last fiscal year so i doubt discounts will be forthcoming

MS just bought Mojang for $2.5 bn so no worries about a price war

also less than half the sony sell thru number (ie. sub 5 mil.)

    It all depends on who you are. If you play with friends obviously get the console your friends have or if you play solo get the console that as the most games coming out or released.

    I'd be thinking quite the opposite; if I were Sony I'd be thinking about trying to turn some shit over!

    Now, if that means price reductions in line with the main competitor, then so be it…to NOT do so would be simply cutting off their nose to spite their face IMHO.

    I already did a wall of angry text on the Xbone thread you made so I'll keep it short, lol.

    Bloodborne might tempt me, but I'm not fond of the idea of a Dark Souls reskin to YE OLDE LONDON equivalent setting.

    Uncharted 4 probably will. Uncharted might be a copy of Tomb Raider, but Tomb Raider's reboot is a copy of Uncharted, doesn't that spin your head? lol.

    Sony shot themselves in the foot by charging for online. I would've bought one without blinking when a game came out for it, but it's hard to justify paying for an online service I only use every 7 months. (Example. Playing Destiny online on PS3 at the moment, and the last game I played online was Dark Souls 2.)

    At least Sony acknowledges indie titles, good ideas, and unique concepts. And they're not just SPAWTZ

    Conclusion: What will make me buy a PS4? A $349 bundle with an actual game that I can't get on another console.

    they usually lose money from consoles, and get you in accessories and games

    would expect sony to drop prices to get people to upgrade from ps3 or move from xbox

      They have made money on every PS4 sold. You are talking about previous generations.

        there was a period where they were losing money on all PS4s sold (I think it was about $50) but it's changed now they make a profit.

    Enough games on it that are exclusive and I'm interested in, and don't come over to PC. Because from the looks of it, most of them are.

      The nature of the modern game's industry, means you make more money by developing on all consoles and PC, but LESS money by developing on Xbone and PS4.

      Gearbox said it best, when approached about why they didn't make an Xbone and PS4 version of Borderlands Pre-sequel.

      "We sold more copies of Borderlands 2 than units of Xbox Ones and PS4's exist, put together."

      Might be a while before developers grow the cajones to try their hand at next gen. More enthusiastic pixel chasing =/= better game.

    Decent firmware. I mean I have two PS3 and both are heavily used, for games, blu rays, playtv, video playback, etc. Half the functionality of the PS3 just isn't available on the PS4. At the moment, it is more or less only any use as a gaming console, with a small selection of expensive games, none that I'm that interested in.

    There are a lot of games coming up that I will want next gen, but not at the moment.

    And I'm a solo gamer. Can't stand the anarchistic chaos of online gaming. I play games to play a story not to play like kiddie cowboys and indians like when I was a kid "bang bang your dead". Not at all interested in online gaming where people respawn once killed during a match….

      When the PS4 has the same functionality of the PS3 I will buy one.
      I need/want more than just a games console.

      Man, you sure we aren't the same person?? I don't like multiplayer online games either - give me a single player game with a decent story.

    I bought my PS4 to play NFS and Fifa 14 after playing them in the store and thinking it was awesome. Since I got it, I've spent at most 5 hours in total. Also bought a few other PS4 games, spare contrllers, etc but never got around to playing.

    In hindsight, not such a great purchase. Waste of $600+.

      I'm not sure I understand the logic of people who buy a whole console for a sport game. Is it not far too similar to previous installments to justify six hundred dollars?

        Apparently the engine was materially different, and the graphics did look pretty impressive. I wanted to make use of my 70" tv when friends are over… but then only played it multiplayer with mates once. And that was when I was overseas on a puny 28" 720p LCD tv!

    Some actual good games that are exclusive to the console, not just over hyped multi console games or remastered old games (TLOU, Assassins Creed, Tomb Raider) It has been like six months and not a single exclusive worth forking out for - what a joke.

    Free online multiplayer.

    Either way, there's no urge to buy until Uncharted 4, Arkham Knight and The Division come out.

    Lots of exclusive JRPGs (Disgaea 5, other NIS/Gust/Compileheart/namco titles) and other sony only exclusives and a cheaper more stable V2 console.
    Heck I waited till The PS3 slim was available at $150 Aud New and had already picked up a few ps3 titles second hand for cheap. So I'll probably wait till something similar occurs.

      Which is never going to happen; Bethesda like money too much. Case and Point; Elder Scrolls Online after a statement that "Elder Scrolls will never be multiplayer" when Skyrim was released.
