We had a Samsung TV… Lasted six months. Their warranty service people were rude and unhelpful. (actually reduced my wife to tears at one point)

We reached the point where we'd have to take it to Fair Trading, luckily JB stepped in and offered to swap it for a Panasonic.

From what I've heard they haven't improved. Just a warning.

ive got 2 in my house a 32" and a 48 and had them for about 6 years with no probs

    • Yes, I agree their warranty service people were unbelievably terrible. We had a brand new latest model tv almost that failed within 2 weeks (2011), first time serviced not fixed, then they replaced the part with a second hand part - we even got the last persons favourites, email address and logins! Eventually after a couple of months of arguing and many phone calls and emails we got our money back. A few months ago we had a home theatre fail within warranty, this had to be replaced but there was no equivalent any more and we were given an inferior replacement, we had to argue again many times (their staff were not competent in the model details) until they agreed for us to buy the wifi add on and they would refund us. We did however have about 7 phone calls asking us how the service was going - ARGH - so they are making some attempt to improve. Buyer beware…

    • I've always thought samsung tv's were amazing, but i always read similiar stories online about their warranty issues.

    • my mate had worranty issue 2 years after getting it, when they replaced it majorly failed again. they gave him a voucher for the whole amount of the original purchase price.

he said as long as you dont talk to the people that are from overseas they were the best .

  • Bought one of these from JB four days ago for 1650. The RRP was 1997 then and thought I got a great deal :(

    • Happy with it so far? Still tossing up between the 6 and 7 series

      • Very happy to be honest. I was actually planning to buy a UHD TV. But when I started looking around, I realized that most of the UHD TVs offer very basic functionality unless you spend more than 3K and no HDMI 2.0 in majority of them. The picture clarity on this TV is impressive with amazing black levels (at least in my opinion). The default picture settings is a bit too bright and colourful, but was able to calibrate it easily

        • Sounds good, how far back are you sitting from the screen.

        • quick question, ive been to 5 retailers and none were able to play free to air tv on this model

can you comment on the quality of it ie any stuttering or lag for fast action shots or even normal ones?

        • @latenight: My living room is really small. So the distance might be around 1.5m or even less
@cumova: I use it mostly for plex and youtube than cable channels.
The quality of free to air channels aren't that great. But I don't think that is a problem with the TV though. Few HD channels are comparatively better and I didn't notice any stutter or lag. Unless you are going to use this TV for playing games, it should be OK. I tried playing GTA V via my PS3 and there was a considerable lag.

        • @sujithgokul: really? that much lag? did you play with the settings?

        • No. I played with the default settings for both the TV and the game. And I played it for less than five minutes as well. May be you will get better performance by adjusting it. I'm not a big time gamer. So I just didn't bother to play around with it and fix it. As far as I know, Samsung has got more display lag than Sony and LG

  • Been tossing up between the Samsung h6400 series vs the Sony w600b series for so long now, nicer blacks vs gaming… Anyone with the h6400 notice any lag when gaming?
