    Are they fresh though?

I just had a box each of two different growers' blueberries. They were $2.98 yesterday at Woolies. Will probably pick up 5 more boxes this morning before work, because they didn't suck. Not the sweetest I've ever tasted, and the ones my Woolies stocks aren't Driscoll's (they only sell Driscoll's in larger punnets, for a much greater price), but not sour, and a good texture (not "woody").

  • finalyy

  • The Driscoll's larger punnets were 2 for $5 last week

    • Are you sure they're larger?

  • If only I liked blueberries….., might buy them anyways and force eat them

    • +2

      Make muffins with them

    • OzB level: this guy

Buys something they don't need (or indeed want or even like!) because: cheap.
      I salute you!

Bought one this morning. It is "OZ BERRIES" and tastes bad.

    • +1

That's probably why they want to clear them out.

I got Druscolli. Circa Bella Vista store in Sydney 'burbs. Bumped into friends then fumbled a punnet spilling them on the floor and making a goose out of myself….oh well.

    • Me too, and agree. They're large and soft and a bit mushy. Best blueberries are small and hard.

  • +3

I have them with Yoghurt, beautiful. Wouldn't suggest the rasberries though, $8.99 per 120grams equals about $80 per kilo.

    • If you've got a garden, why not grow your own…

Good idea JV. Unfortunately, it's the wrong time of the year.

Edit: They do not like hot summer temperatures or the tropics. Winter is the best time to plant,

  • Are these available in-store too or online only?

    • I would have thought in-store too. You could "click and collect"?

    • Definitely in store as well.

  • Thanks tonester, enjoying the box I picked up, will have to go back & get some more :)

  • How to freeze these in a correct way ? How long will they last in a freezer ?

    • I was thinking the same thing, currently frozen is $10 per Kg

    • Is unlikely you can freeze the, better than buying them snap frozen, like the creative gourmet frozen berries.

Eat them fresh of buy snap frozen berries is my advice.

pop in a zip lock back and freeze away. then use later in smoothies, muffins etc.

  • $3.88 instore at Oxenford. They said I have to buy online.

    • Same here on the sunshine coast :(

  • Woolworths Rockdale $1.98 in store.

  • I just smashed down a box, really sweet and big bought at woolies at Moonee ponds.

    • What is the grower / brand?

    • I must be the only person that likes my blueberries nice and sour - adds a little kick!

  • How long will they last in the fridge (not freezer)? Thinking of buying 10 punnets…

    • blueberries last forever when frozen and loose very little if any flavour. not sure about fridge times though.
In saying that if you plan to freeze then just buy them frozen as they are cheaper.

Coles sells Australian frozen blueberries at $4.50 for 300g or $15/kg, which is slightly cheaper than this ($15.85).

Or if you go for frozen imported berries (generally China or Chile) , they usually cost around $10 a kg

  • Why do berries cost so much? Normally $5 for 125 grams, thats about $45KG for an Australian fruit? Rip off.

Just went to buy online and the link price comes up as $3.88 when I'm signed in to Woolies online. If I sign out its $1.98.
    Must be the loyalty price.

  • Just finished a punnet for lunch, not the best I've had, but still great at the price. The one I had was Benning's Australia.

  • $3.98 in the Brisbane CBD store. Said the $1.98 price was online only.

    • I think $1.98 pricing for blueberries is really an online price, but it's also available at those Woolworths shops handling online deliveries. That's what I was told anyway, after calling three Woolworths stores in Hobart looking for stock.

Nothing at either of the two smaller CBD outlets - Campbell Street and Hobart City - but stacks available (for $1.98/punnet) at Woolworths New Town (Tas).

  • Just grabbed some B-berries from WW QV Melb, $1.98 each for BCP Bluberries 125g (NSW produce)

Also grabbed Strawberries, 2 for $2.50 for Coco's Strawberries 2x250g (QLD produce)

Yes I know Aldi strawberries would be $0.52 cheaper, wasn't worth the risk of having to go back to Woolies again if Aldi's quality wasn't up to par..

    • The Aldi strawberries I saw in store today were rotting in their containers. I picked up one punnet and was treated with oozing fermented strawberry juice.

      • +1

        Bonus strawberry wine?

      • Glad I didn't waste my time then :-)

  • Got 4 punnets at Eastwood store. Thanks OP.

  • sorry to those in qld+sa - deal updated:

    Blueberries 125g $1.98 [NSW/VIC/WA/NT/TAS] Strawberries 250g $0.98 [QLD/SA] @ Woolies TODAY ONLY

    • Yep just came on to say the blueberries aren't available in QLD at that price and saw it in the heading.
As soon as you select a QLD store online the price reverts to $3.88 a punet.

    • Did this post say blueberries $0.98 at some point this morning? Having a strange day…

  • just grab blueberries 125gr for 99c each at northland preston

    • wow - 99c not $1.98?

      • yes, its 99c just grab the last two box,

  • blueberries are $4.98 at Adelaide CBD.
    very typical for SA.

    • love going up to the Adelaide hills for PYO when i have been there in season.

      (my Pa lived near there)
